The t.v. is a sv2000. the t.v. has a built in dvd player. The model Wv20d5 Ac 120v 60hz 80w. Serial # v23617343. Does this t.v. have a code that can be put into that remote so I can switch to the DTV?

I HAVE THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON. THE WORK AROUND IS THAT I HAVE TO ACTRUALLY PUSH THE ON/OFF BUTTON ON THE TV, SO IT IS A SMALL THING, STILL I WANT TO LINK THE DTV analog converterbox remote made by NIHENS Digital located in Torrance California - to my Funai SV2000 TV. I will give them a call their tech support line at 866-706-4367. It is a long hold time. I hung up after 3.5v minutes wait. Their email is support@dsconverter.com
If they do not have the answer, then no one will.

Do I need a digital convertor box to get the DTV signals or just the antenna?

You will need a digital-to-analog converter box and an antenna. The TV only has an NTSC (analog) tuner.

I hope this helps.

Do you have to add a converter box to receive free

You will need a converter box or a separate tuner. The TV has an NTSC (analog) tuner.

I hope this helps.

(the $40 boxes that are available are mostly SD. You should check the specs if you want a HD tuner.)

No Audio with HDTV on Mitsubishi WS 55859; no problem w analog tv

Have had bad exprience with RCA converter boxes. The box will lose audio and has to be turned off and then back on. You may want to hit mute during this process, the volume varies from analog to DTV. If you have no problem with analog audio I would look into a different converter box.

Dtv ready?

Going to the following link will help you to find out if your television is DTV ready or not:

Using their online tool, select the Brand (Akai) and the Model from the list. If you cannot find your model in the list (which I was not able to for your television), they are saying that you most likely do not have a digital tuner.

All is not lost, however. As stated on the aforementioned site, you can consider one of the following options:

  • Purchase a digital-to-analog converter box that plugs into an existing television. The boxes, which are expected to cost between $40 - 70 will be available for purchase in 2008. Beginning in February 2008, U.S. households can request up to two coupons valued at $40 each. Each coupon can go toward the purchase of a single set-top converter box that will allow you to continue watching FREE "over-the-air" television on an analog set.
  • Subscribe to a cable, satellite or telecommunications service provider if all desired local broadcast stations are carried by that service.
  • Purchase a new television set with a built in digital tuner.

Listed on the page is further information that may help you to determine the status of your TV:

  • Consult your owner's manual. If that's not possible, you may be able to look up information about your TV set on the manufacturer's website. Or, you can take an up-close look at your TV set. You are trying to find out if your set has an input connection labeled "digital input" or "ATSC" (for Advanced Television Systems Committee, which is developing the DTV format).
  • If you bought your TV set before 1998, it probably doesn't have a digital tuner at all. Almost every TV set made before 1998 was a traditional "analog" set that can't display digital TV signals without either a special converter or a cable TV connection. If you bought a big-screen, projection TV between 1998 and 2004, it's possible there's a built-in digital tuner inside. But chances aren't great. Only a limited percentage of projection TV sets (and generally only those 42 inches in diameter or larger) included digital tuners before 2004.
  • If you've purchased a new TV set since 2004, your chances of having a built-in digital tuner improve dramatically. Starting in 2004, many of the TV sets sold at popular electronics stores have featured digital tuners that will let you receive the new digital over-the-air broadcasts starting in February 2009. But be wary: It's not a sure thing. Even some of the newer TV sets are purely display monitors that lack the internal circuitry needed to pick up digital broadcasts. Usually these sets have been advertised as "HD-ready" or "HDTV monitor" sets. That means they can display digital and high-definition signals, but they need help getting those signals in the first place. You'll still need a special converter or a cable TV connection.

The changeover only effects those that use either rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna. It sounds like you have cable TV which will not change. No converter box should be needed if you have cable or satelite.

After installing the DTV converter box, reception was dropped for most of the stations i received pre-box. now i have added a new antenna. and, i can't get anything through the converter box. connections...

If you have the box connected to the TV using an RF cable to the TV's antenna input, make sure the TV is on channel 3. You should at least see the boxes menu display when the power is on. Try channel 4 if you see nothing on 3. Every box I've hooked up has been on channel 3 by default, but who knows?

If you can, hook the box to the TV using direct video and audio connections, and make sure the TV is set to the correct input.

Unless the box you bought has "RF pass-through" (and if you got your box using a government coupon, it's a sure bet it doesn't) you will notice a marked drop in quality if you try to watch regular broadcasting with the box connected. I've been installing these with a bypass arrangement so people can still watch their analog broadcasts until they go off the air in February.

If the box does in fact have no display when you turn it on and your TV is on the correct channel, your box is defective and should be returned and replaced.

I have a TB110MW9 DTV digital to analog converter box. I set the RF out setting and now the box is unresponsive. How do I get my digital signal back?

just a note. that you may want to go near the box while holding the setup button. also, it may take more than 3 seconds for it to respond. during tests. it could take up to 20 seconds for response. but this does solve the RF OUT for sure. hope this helps

Digital converter boxes without an analog pass through, block all analog channels.
