SOURCE: Programmable Thermostat = Much Higher Bill?

You say your bill increased by as much as 40%. You must understand, this has been a much colder winter than usual as well. Not to mention, if your unit has not been properly serviced to the proper temprature rise anually you will be wasting gas everytime it operates. On over 90% of installed units they are operating over their designed temperature rise and wasting fuel and money for the end consumer. This is why it is very inportant to have you equipment service twice a year, beginibg of winter for the heater and begining of summer for the AC. But, more inportantly, it must be done PROPERLY...

Call me and I will explain the procedure...

Resetting the Thermostat
The Reset feature allows the user to completely reset the thermostat to register new manual switch settings.
1. To erase all entered programs, current time of day, day of week and other user settings, gently press the RESET button using a paper clip or a small pencil tip.
2. This will return all thermostat settings to their default values and register all new manual switch settings for proper operation

How to programme rc2 british gas thermostat

The British Gas RC2 is a re-badged Drayton Digistat and I managed to find installation and operating manuals for that at www.gasapplianceguide.co.uk

Go to the section 'Lost your instructions' and look for Drayton 2F & 3F Digistats (earlier type) for a downloadable copy of the manuals.

Following them got my RC2 up and running though it was a bit fiddly at times.

Hope this helps.

I can not change the thermostat setting on the unit. Whenever I try to change it, it reverts back to the previous setting.

The thermostat will display the current tempature in the room. When you press the buttons to change the tempature and you see it change back it is probably going back to the room tempature display but still keeping the temp you set it at. Also make sure the "hold" feature is set or the temp you choose can change at different times during the day due to the programmable features built into the thermostat.

You say you have3 rooms on the underfloor system that will probably require different temps. You said you have 1 zone valve for the under floor system. Honeywell ST6400C with no display

I pressed the reset button in error and the display just would not return o no heating or hot water. Nothing tripped on the board and all wires and the unit itself showed power coming through.I got it working again by sheer determination.

What I did
I took the unit from the base plate and opened the front panel to see circuit board. It has 4 clips and it all goes back together easily.

What I did.Time taken 15 minutes.

The tiny rubber reset button was collapsed, perhaps maintaining the 'off' situation.

I moved a tiny wire from touching the side of the battery.Perhaps not important but it didnt look right.

When i remounted the unit it lit up beautifully.

So the solution lies in 1 or all of these 3.
If it happens again I will try

1. simply remove the unit from its base plate and remount to see if that is all it takes.

2. Open the front and check the reset button isnt collapsed and stuck.

3. Just move that little wire from leaning against the battery -(least sure of why this might help)

hope this might help someone else
