I have a LG television (32LX2R) and it is stuck on standby, just can't get it to turn on. I have tried turning it off at the mains ans leaving it for a while which has worked in the past but now it just won't turn on at all. Any ideas?

Have you tried unplugging it for a few minutes and them trying again? Doesn't solve the underlying issue, but may reset the unit to work again.

Sorry for the confusion. You stated you turned it off at the mains which could be interpreted as turning off the main switch, not fully taking the power away from the unit (hence unplugging it). As I stated that was the first step. Second step is to see if the power on at the tv works (and the remote). You can also try and unplugging it once more. Press and hold the power on button for 10-15 seconds (to discharge the capacitor) and then plug it back in. From there you are looking at a control board problem which with todays sets means changing out the board instead of trying to fix the individual parts. I don't know how brave you are or your skill set, but can talk you through opening the unit up and looking at specific areas as well. Let me know how you make out and please write back with any questions.

hi there. I have the same problem as ben does. The tv is always in standby mode and cannot wake up. I already tried to take the power unit out, checked it out if everything is ok and so on. Is there any advice you can give to bring this tv to life? I have also tried to override the main unit and to start the 12V part on the power unit, it worked and the blue led at the bottom lighted up but the tv did not wake up. So.. any ideas for that? thank you in advance.

I have a Sony Bravia LCD tv an it won't turn on at all the standby light is not even there I've tried turning on an off and leaving unplugged for an hour still nothing.? Help,

You either have a problem with your power supply board or main board. I would start with having the power supply fuse checked as well as the power supply board!

Can not get tv to turn on

It's normally a power failure/surge on the main board. Most common with LG tv's of this type. Samsung tv's of this type don't actually turn off, they only go on standby, which is why you can turn the Blue Eye off in the menu. One solution to try (if you haven't already), is to disconnect it from the mains (this is also the only way of actually turning the tv off), leave it for 24 hours, and try again.

Stuck in standby

The 4 blinks indicate a vertical deflection problem. Either the connections on the legs of the vertical IC are bad or the IC is defective. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Let me know if you wish to attempt the repair and I'll provide more details and instructions.
