Question about Ovens

Hi, I have a premier gas oven and the numbers on the oven knob are gone so that I don't know what temp I put the oven on. Can you send me a picture with the temps on the knob? I would really appreciate it Thank you Joerg

My frigidaire oven knob quit working. The knob turns but it does not adjust the temp.

the knob is probably stripped. if the stove is from 1950 you may want to consider replacing it. If it is not to expensive to replace the knob you can try that just email the company and see if they can send you a replacement knob

Oven temperature on Neff 195305317 circotherm oven

hi remember that electric can kill you even if it is unplugged, if you don't know what components are likely to hold charge or have large inductance get someone else to fix it.

you need to get the service manual as tis will have fault finding charts, part numbers, location of sensors etc. If you can't get manual then:
Not likely to be temp limiter as this cuts out if temp is too hot. Find temp probe, may be ntc, mercury vapour switch etc. take probe out disconnect leads and measure resistance, heat, or cool, probe measure resistance if not significantly different (ie 10k to 100k or 100k to 300k) then probe is shot. Take probe to spares place, get replacement and refit. Be very careful to refit leads exactly as they came out, don't want insulation to melt and oven to become live. test with oven or meat thermometer as new sensor may need calibration. Should be accurate to within 10C or so

hope this helps

When you turn the temp knob the light will come on the panel but the oven will not light. Stove works fine. We have had this unit for 12 years. Thanks Bob.....

can you hear gas coming in when you turn the know to "ligth" if not the you may have either a bad gas valve or the safety feature has detected something wrong, and has shut the gas off to the oven. first determine if you do indeed have gas., how does the oven light, is it pilot lit, or does it have a glow plug, if its pilot lit, make sure the pilot is running. if its a glow plug, you should be able to see it glow when you turn the oven on, if its not glowing it has to be replaced (or maybe the wiring has gone bad). either way that's where to start.

It doesn't turn on - no ignitor glow, suddenly

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. Without a model number we are pretty much shooting from the hip here. Having said that it takes all of the following to make the oven burner light:

1. Gas pressure to the gas valve and good solenoids (2 ea)
2. Power to Oven control and selector knob set above min temp
3. Over Temp sensor closed
4. Temp control "thermocouple or thermistor" functional
5. A functioning ignitor

So if you have power to the unit... and we assume the oven control is working.. suspects are:

a. Open ignitor
b. Open flame sensor
c. Open over temp sensor
d. Thermocouple or thermistor (depending on model)
e. Open coil on gas valve

Determining which of the above has failed is performed with an Ohm Meter.

If there is more that we can do for you just respond here.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I don't have the model number for this range but it's a very old magic chef gas oven. What I need is the oven temperature knob. The knob used to have all of the temperature numbers printed on it however...

If you go any hardware store (Lowe's, Home Depot) they have universal knob replacement kits. Take your old knob with you and ask for help from someone who looks like they know something (the old guy). Its so much cheaper this way, exact replacement knobs can run $20 or more each. Good luck!!

Thermostat setting for bakers pride y600 oven.

Hi, those screws are for the calibration of the knob to the thermostat, so your calibration is correct. Most likely you will have to contact a servicer to check the calibration, and set you knob and plate where they will align with the actual temp again.
Hope that helps, and thank you.

I have two sources that give correspondances between thermostat numbers and temperatures.

This is the first one:

THERMOSTATS
bullette1.gifThermostat 1 30°C - 85°F bullette2.gifThermostat 2 60°C - 140°F bullette1.gifThermostat 3 90°C - 195°F bullette2.gifThermostat 4 120°C - 250°F Gas mark 1/2 bullette1.gifThermostat 5 150°C - 300°F Gas mark 2 bullette2.gifThermostat 6 180°C - 350°F Gas mark 4 bullette1.gifThermostat 7 210°C - 410°F Gas mark 6 bullette2.gifThermostat 8 240°C - 460°F Gas mark 8 bullette1.gifThermostat 9 270°C - 520°F Gas mark 10

The other one is a formula: t = 20 X (T + 3)

where t is the température in °C
T is the thermostat (1, 2 ... 12)

As you may discover, each of the methods give slightly different results. Hope this will help.
