SOURCE: pwr cord rewind reel

You have to pop the grey button off for the cord rewind. There is one more screw under there. You have to be very careful, because you can break one of the tabs that hold the button on. In fact, it is almost a garuntee. There are three tabs that stick off the button that hold it in place on the orange hood. There's a long tab about 3/4 inch long on the inside corner of the button you need to be careful of. Good luck!

SOURCE: Cord rewinder on a Electrolux model C102J vacum cleaner

Hi there Johnd, SmartAlec from Nelsonvacuums.com.au here. I fix vacuums full time for a living and the first time i had this problem with the australian version of this vacuum it tok me an hour to pull it apart and back together. now i have done a dozen or so it is about a 30minute operation. I dont know what you rate your technical skill level at but i give this machine a 8/10 for hardness. It is most likely that the cord has jumped off the reel and is wedged so it shouldn't require parts but it cant be done without nearly stripping it down. There is no reset or similar for the reel. My advice unless your very confident take it to a repairer. It would be 1/2 - 1hr of labour charge only i would think.
Hope this helps.

Kenmore Progressive canister vacuum cord rewinder is "jammed." How can I fix it myself? Thank you! dan :)

It has to come apart to fix that. I wouldn't recommend doing that yourself, as you will probably break it. Take it to your local vac shop for repair.

My cord wont rewind

The rewind tension spring may be broken or fully extended. Try to yank hard on the cord and pull toward you with some force. Pull until the line will no longer come out and if it won\'t recoil then it needs to be repaired.

You have over pulled the cable out way beyond the limit marked on the cable, try gentle tug/ pull with. Thumb of the area around auto, rewind area may just set it in motion again. If no go you will have to bite the bullet and dismantle the hover auto rewind unit carefully noting how you take it apart ref, to any springs recoils mechanisms where and how they are fitted a photo or photos should help you reassemble the unit, go careful try makers Webb site may be helpful diagram ect.

Think cleaning lady pulled too hard on cord...now no power, doesn't turn on

it is possible that the cord rewinder has become broken inside the unit. It is a common problem with this and other models by Miele.

There IS a fix to the cord rewind, unless your model falls within the 5 year warranty. In which case contact your nearest Miele dealer for a replacement to the cord rewinder.

Good luck.

My Miele Carina Vacuum stopped working. Does it have a fuse that can be replaced that could be at fault here?

although it might have an internal fuse on this model, I dont think that will be the problem.

The miele cord rewinder has been known to have a small fault in it where the cord winder that actually retracts the cord onto will come apart from the electrical connection in the cord winder itself.

As most of these units have a 5 year warranty anyway, I suggest that you take it to your nearest miele dealer for a repair/replacement on the cord rewinder.

Good luck.
