Question about Gateway FPD2275W LCD Monitor

My SVA monitor 5 blacks out after 5 seconds

When I turn on my PC, I can see the windows logo and everything clearly. Then about 5 seconds the monitor blacks out. If I hit F8 during bootup, the monitor stays on and shows all the normal setup features. This tells me the monitor is working. I suspect something had been done to the display setup without my knowledge. What would you suggest? How do I restore the original display setup? Thanks!!!

Use f 8 to go to safe mode then set the resolution at the very least liek 8 bits or whatever the lower=st is and save it then restart in normal mode and then play with the resolution in display settings to get to the ma your video card will support.

Your monitor is suffering an overheat condition due to the switcher internally working too hard and overheating, shutting down the switching supply. Replace the electrolytic caps on the board with new low esr ones and you should see this problem go away.

Could be the resolution too high for the monitor.
Try to press "F8" during the "Starting Windows" message, then select the safe mode or VGA mode.
After logging in check the resolution and if needed reduce it.

Could be also a video driver problem.

Use the same "F8" trick to get to the safe mode and reinstall the video driver.

I hope this will give you some ideas

Screen on laptop keeps going black

please explain further. keeps going black from where? after turning on the laptop? of after windows logo? if after windows logo screen turns black if a no boot issue where laptop cannot load system files. if screen is black after turning on no manufacturer logo and windows logo or anything then it might be the LCD or video card / motherboard. to isolate try connecting your laptop to an external monitor and check if you will be getting the same problem. if no display from the external monitor then its a video card issue, if video card is integrated needs to replace motherboard.

I CANT GET MY MONITOR TO TURN ON

It could be the Monitor, the VGA adapter, or the PC itself. If you power on the monitor without anything connected to it, do you ever see anything on the display?

If not, it is probably the Monitor. If yes, it is likely the vga adapter and/or PC.

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.
