How to manually activate a humidifier solenoid

If humidifier is running but water valve is not clicking open, check the wire connections. If connection is OK, than unplug the humidifier from 120V outlet, disconnect water valve wires and with multimeter check resistivity on the valve coil. If the coil is burned out/open/no resistance, the coil needs to be replaced.

No water going over pad

Check to see if you have water on the inlet side of the solenoid valve by loosining the compression fitting, if water is there then the solenoid valve is not working, if no water at compression fitting then the saddle valve is either plugged up or faulty

No water in the humidifier (General 1042L). What's wrong? Thanks

I would first check to make sure you have water to incoming side of the solenoid valve. Most inlet and outlet fitting are compression type so you can carefully loosen nut on incoming side to see if you have water there. You don't want to take the nut off just back it off a liitle to see if you have pressure there. If so then retighten nut on incoming side and loosen nut on leaving side. Turn up thermostat to actuate solenoid valve. You should be able to hear a slight click when the valve opens.
If you have water on incoming side and you can tell that valve is working but you are not getting water flow then shut off water supply to humidifier and remove inlet nut and and slip pipe back to see if there is a blockage there. Clean as needed or replace solenoid if it's not working. If you have flow into unit but not out then check outlet side for blockage. I hope this helps . Thank you.

GET NO FLOW. CAN FEEL THE SOLENOID GETTING POWER AND CLICK

I would suggest that you locate supply valve to humidifier and loosen compression nut on outlet side to see if you have water at that point. If you do shut valve off and disconnect supply line on incoming water line and make sure it is clean. Check for plugged screens or lime build up. Clean as needed. If you aren't getting any flow thru shut off valve then turn off water supply to the valve and replace it. I hope this helps you. Thanks

We just bought a house with an existing Aprilaire 600 humidifier. It is now heating season and we ae running the furnace. I turned on the humidifier and no water is getting to the pad.The water line is ok...

Hello,Make sure the heating blower/fan is running when you turn the dial as the humidifier might not have power if there is no heating blower operation.

Honeywell HE260 leaks somewhere

Neither, even if the solenoid or humidistat stick, it should always drain properly. Is the unit mounted on the cold air return duct or the supply plenum? If it's mounted on the supply plenum, the water panel might be getting blown forward and spilling the water. High efficient furnaces also can leak water on the floor if its drain is restricted. If hum. is mounted on return duct make sure drain is clear by blowing through it. On Honeywell hum's I've seen the rubber hose from the solenoid valve to the distributor tray leak too, check the rubber 1/4" hose.

Water flow from humidifier never stops. Even when furnace is off.

No, it will not stop flowwing if it is the water supply. A solenoid valve opens the flow everytime there is a call for humidity, but it stops at the humidifier when there is no call, so it will leak from that point until it is fixed or tightened.

Water runs out of the bottom of the unit

Check your plastic water orifice. It is in the hose fitting connected to the outlet tube of the water solenoid. It should be a blue one. Mine was completely eaten through, allowing full water flow, and thus overflowing the distribution tray. I replaced mine yesterday and no more water drips. May as well reflace the filter on the inlet tube of the solenoid at the same time. I used a piece of very stiff, but thin, wire formed into a small hook to remove both old parts. Replacements are readily available from multiple sources on line.

Aprilaire 700 never shuts off

Thanks for your question,
Sounds to me like you have a bad solenoid valve in your Humidifier, this will need replaced, the solenoid is supposed to open and close when there is a call for humidity only when the furnace is running, then when the proper amount of humidity is sensed by the humidistat, then will it shut off, with the solenoid not working it will let water flow through like an open faucet, the solenoid is the componet that the 1/4in copper tubing connects to at the humidifier, has two wires running from it, you will need to shut the power off before changing this out, also shut the water off at the valve at the other end of the 1/4in copper line, or you might get soaked, please be careful when installing the new solenoid, making sure the water line connection is secure, or you will have leaks, hope this was helpful, please leave a rating, thanks again for your question,

Routing waterline to pad

1/4" flexible copper pipe. Tap into your cold water line using the included saddle valve (pierces the pipe), attach the 1/4" flexible copper pipe to the saddle valve on the cold water pipe and the solenoid valve on humidifier unit using the included compression fittings. Tada!
