Hi,

Not sure what make and model you have.... but usually when that is happening it is becaue you either have no gas getting to the gas valve or the gas valve is not working...

Check for gas at the gas valve and then also check for 24v at the gas valve right before it shuts down...

if you get the 24v and have gas but no fire then replace the gas valve...

Slant fin boiler galaxy natural gas, pump starts and runs. Igniter comes on . Pilot lights. Burner lights. Runs for seconds. Burn shuts down. Igniter starts pilot light, pilot goes out and on and on

The flame sensor, which is located in front of one of the burner flames is probably oxidized and needs cleaning or replacement. If the unit can't "sense" the flame, it will continue to cycle.

Igniter goes on blower runs for 30 seconds main heater flame ignites and burns for approx 30 seconds then it shuts down for approx 10 seconds and repeats the same sequence 3 times, then shuts down...

there should be a flame detector sensor. it is in the flame. this will need to be cleaned with a wire brush or scrapped with something to get the carbon build up off of it.
you will see something that in in the flame area that is kind of charred and black with a wire coming out of it.
this is designed to tell the unit that there is a flame present and if that flame is not there after serveral attempts it will shut it down. because it there was no flame there you would get gas fumes pumped into you house.
you could change it out or usually you can just clean it and it will work fine.

hope this helps

The furnance ignites for about ten seconds the right befor the blower comes on the furnance goes out. This repeats itself over and over until the unit shuts itself down.

Take out the flame sensor and clean it with a piece of sand paper or emery cloth and put it back in and this should get sustained flame.2e77348.jpg

Hi, this is whats called delayed ignition. I have burned the eye brows and lashes off my face many times because of this. This is really something a repairman should look at, as raw gas is not igniting completely when the unit shuts off. In other words you have raw gas in the box that is igniting when the heater shuts down. This normally happens on a unit with a standing pilot. You may have a leak in the pilot tube if it is a standing pilot that ignites. You can do this, shut the unit down and check for any signs of leaks and clean all of the burners out. They will build up with rust flakes and cause the gas in the burners not to fire and shut off until last. Clean everything up really well and make sure panels are secure. Try it and if it continues, call someone out. This can be dangerous to you and your family. You can also call out your local gas company and say you smell gas when you use the heater. They will come out free of charge and then when they are looking it over, you can say what you just told me. They can take care of it. Even though you may not smell gas, they don't no this and will get rolling on this fast as this sounds like a gas leak!! This will be your best bet as it could very well be a gas leak. Keep me posted,
Sincerely,

This sounds like a flame sensor problem. No signal from sensor will shut down gas valve. Check flame sensor position in flame/or replace

Rinnai burner goes out when ignition button is released

The thermocouple [s] require replacement, or in my experience try servicing the unit first. There is an injector for the main pilot and a secondary injector for the flame thrower ignition. Both of these are prone to blocking due to dust and can be enough to shut the unit down. Although usually this is thermocouple related as you are manually keeping the unit running when you hold down the button, if the tcouple is broken it wont send enough millivolts to hold the magnetic valve open when you release the button.

Auto shut down screen does appear when ignition is turned off

This is telling me that your cigarette lighter socket has +12VDC applied to it all the time EVEN when the ignition is turned OFF. This is not the fault of your Nuvi. On some cars, like Hondas, the cigarette lighter socket powers off when your ignition is turned off.

If you want it to turn off with the ignition, then you will have to power it from a +12VDC source that is controlled by the ignition.
