I am having the same problem after the power was turned off and then reconnected. Have you had any luck finding the source of the problem?

    Same problem...what worked?

  • Fwstroker Apr 11, 2011

Simply press the top left (Engery Saver) and top right (Alarm) buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds--it will beep and reset the panel! I was told by both GE and a local repair service that I had to replace the entire control panel...what a RACKET!! GE needs to start telling people this trick when they call in with this error...it will come up every time there is a power outage.

If it is still under warranty call for service right away. It could be the compressor going bad which costs a lot of money. Sometimes almost the same cost or half the cost of a new refrigerator.

Try pressing and holding the top left (Engery Saver) and top right (Alarm) buttons at the same time for about 10 or 15 seconds. It should give you and audible beep and reset the panel.

Flashing freezer led

a flashing display is how samsung shows error codes. try and draw a picture of which segments of the display is flashing. think of the figure 8 and then try to show which part of the 8 is being shown. that is how we can tell what error code needs fixed.

Samsung side by side RFG297AAWP display shows 88 88

Press and hold the energy saver button, and the lighting button at the same time until it beeps and clears, 10 seconds. When it goes back to normal panel do the same thing again which will put the fridge in a running diagnosis mode and see if any parts of the 8's are flashing, if so look on the back of the fridge at the error codes.

Panel showing 88 88

You can try unplugging , wait a few minutes , and plugging back in . If that doesn't work , then the main control board , located on the back of the refrig ( behind an 8 " X 10 " panel ) , was damaged by the power surge , and needs to be replaced .

Fridge and freezer not cooling down

It seems it's the defrost sensor (freezer side). Waiting for it to come, ordered this morning. It appears to be a defrost fault, having read on the web it seems you can check the defrost sensor with a meter across whilst holding the actual sensor in your hand tightly to see if the resistance changes, anyway it didn't. Will post when the new one comes and I change it.
