Just to begin with, when was the last time you had the burner serviced? Mat, ring and all the gaskets involved. A Monitor 441 needs to be looked at about every 3 years to ensure proper operation. otherwise, does the pump make a loud ticking sound? That would mean it isn't getting enough fuel to it and you would need to check your filter and the strainer in the fuel sump. You may need to check your igniter also. If it isn't working the heater will not light and kerosene will be building up in the burner everytime you try to light it. If you have a clamp on ammeter you can clamp around 1 of the igniter wires and should get 2 - 4 amps when you turn the heater on.

regards

The display flashes a code. It should flash a number of times each time and pause. You will need to count the number of times it flashes. This is a code that tells what the problem is. It could be a number of things causing this. But if you post the code on here I will tell you what the code means and how to fix it. It should flash like 5 times then a pause. Or something.

Shuts off after slowe burning ,8888 flashes, and all burner lights fash. Monitor 441 oil heater.

There is specific instruction on web site for 8888 code flashing, as bbtoast has instructed.

From a distance we are unable to do the test procedure, you will need to do it, follow the instructions given on THIS PAGE. you also will need a multimeter to test for the 2.4volts and also a 10K ohm resistor to test.

Without testing as instructed here are your options
06c7dee.jpg plus failure of combustion motor.

Sorry no magic wand available, you will need to get your hands dirty, part identifiers and circuit diagrams are also on given site

I think you will find that Brian has already indicated this much and there is not anything more anybody could tell you.

Cheers.

My light won't ignite on my mpi 441 monitor

this morning my heater, monitor 411, was running fine as always.
while it was running the power company came to work on a pole and turned the power off. it was down for about three hours. once power was restored it wouldn't come on.
the pilot light is off but I'm not sure if it's suppose to be while not running.I've tried priming it with three pumps, resetting by unplugging, beleeding the line, all don't work.
it's suppose to be 22f tonight so I could sure use some help.
oh, I have a manual but, of course, it doesn't cover the problem. I also called the company but got a voice mailbox...go figure.
somebody please help!

My 441 monitor heater will ignite and then it burns for a little while then goes out and starts flashing.

sounds like your heater may be starving for fuel. check all your rubber hoses for cracks first and then continue troubleshooting from there.

My monitor heater 441 comes on but after 3 mins.or so the burner lights come on full then starts blinking still no flames no heat.

Not a lot of details to go on. Does the pump make a loud ticking sound? That would mean it isn't getting any fuel to it and you would need to check your filter and the strainer in the fuel sump. You may need to check your igniter also. If it isn't working the heater will not light and kerosene will be building up in the burner everytime you try to light it. If you have a clamp on ammeter you can clamp around 1 of the igniter wires and should get 2 - 4 amps when you turn the heater on. If this doesn't help you can email me a nitensheaterservice@earthlink.net.

I have a monitor 441 and it will not ignite! I cleaned the strainer, and the igniter is getting warm. But, no flame? help anyone??

Lane,

Do you hear a thumping noise on the lower right side of the unit just before it starts flashing the light bars? If so you have a fuel supply problem. If there is no thumping noise I would check the flue pipe on the outside to be sure it is clear. Lastly I would remove the copper fuel pipe from the burner and try to start the stove. If fuel comes out the pipe the pump is good. If fuel comes out I would stick a paper clip down the fuel nozzle about 3 inches, it could be blocked with carbon. If no fuel comes out the pipe, you will need to get a manual or a tech to help you out. The choices would now be fuel pump or main board, both of which are pricey so you don't want to make a mistake.

That being said, when was the last time you had the burner serviced? Mat, ring and all the gaskets involved? A Monitor 441 needs to be looked at about every 3 years to be sure you get through the heating season.

Good luck,

Burner mat

it is a fiberglass composite. it will not burn. its function is to soak up the kero coming into the burner pot for ignition. from the factory it is held in place by a refractory cement that tends to dry out after time and the edges of the mat curl up. I do repairs on my own monitor 441 and I use a 500 degree silicone adhesive that I got from the hardware store made by rutland stove cements.
