Refrigrater not working

If your refrigerator has a few years on in, it may have a mechanical clock timer defrost switch. They are prone to fail and will stick in the defrost mode.
Also your compressor has a starter device. Sometimes these will fail and requires repair.
If you evaporator coil heater elements go bad, when the refrigerator goes into defrost mode, the coils won't defrost. This will allow frost/ice to build up on the coils and cause it to quit.
There are usually two fans. A condenser fan in the bottom back, that can get dirty blocked and fail.
the other fan is an evaporator fan. It between the cooling compartments inside the refrigerator. If this fan fails it will not move the cool out of the freezer.
The thermostat can fail. It tell the compressor to come on.

There are some basic things to look for, but it is a process of elimination.

Good Luck

Iam wondering about my old refrigrater. its rounded, standing at about 4'8. brand " deepfreeze" refrigerator. its old, pretty vintage. wondering if you knew a link i can find information on this,...

Yes this is an old fridg. There are thousands of them in the US being used as secondary cooler for pop, beer, ect. in garages. The problem is they don't ware out. The major problem is the cfc refigerant that was used is now outlawed, and they are not efficent by today's standards. For a little bit more of electric usage, and if it still works and , and it does it's job and you are happy keep it.
It will cost you more than it is worth to hall it away and do the reclmation of the cfc gasses even if it is an antique? Don't you wish they would make appliances today like GE did then?

Hope this helps you making a decision. If it was mine I'd keep it (if you have the room)

Noise from the fridge

Sounds like the compressor is overheating.

Make sure the condensor fan is running.

This will be the fan motor running verry close to the compressor. located in the rear of the machine.

Make sure you unplug machine, remove back panal, look for fan, Unless there is an obstruction, Don't touch it, just plug machine back in to see if it starts on its own. if this fan is not working and the compressor is on then the fan motor will need to be replaced.

I have magic chef mini refrigrater freezer not freezing and getting water in tray under freezer part. what can I do?

Sir, To solve this problem, you must open the compressor area at the back bottom of the refrigerator and chek the temperature of the pressure line. If the temperature is between 55celcius to 60 than its ok. Or else you need to change the refrigerant. I suggest you to contact the service authority.

Thanks for contacting Fixya.
