puertobori, I have done all of your suggestions and the result on the Test is of only colour patterns showing. Could it be that the machine has reached its 'use by date', common with just about all of such machines and built in by the manufacturer.

  1. Print a Print Quality Check Sheet.

    1. Press the Ink or Ink Management button.

    2. Press the up or down navigation key to choose Test Print.

    3. Press OK to confirm your choice.

    4. Use the up or down navigation key to choose Print Quality.

    5. Press OK to confirm your choice. Press Color(Colour) Start.

  2. Closely examine the Print Quality Check Sheet. Each of the four colors is represented by a slanted square pattern made up of individual blocks. The colors should appear in the following order from left to right: Black - Yellow - Cyan - Magenta.
  1. Cleaning the print head may solve the problem. When cleaning the print head, you are given the option to clean BLACK ONLY, one of the three colors (CYAN, YELLOW, or MAGENTA), or all four colors at once. For this issue we recommend cleaning only the affected color. If more than one color is missing then choose ALL.

  2. When the machine completes cleaning the print head, press Color(Colour) Start. Another Print Quality Check Sheet will print.

  3. Repeat the cleaning and the quality check process following the Step 4-5.
Also do a clean:

To ensure good print quality, the Brother machine will regularly clean the print head. You can also start the cleaning process manually if you are experiencing print quality issues. Please note that a small amount of ink will be used when cleaning. We recommend running a cleaning cycle only if you are experiencing print quality issues

To run the cleaning cycle.

1. Press Ink button

2. Press down arrow key to select Cleaning and then press Ok.

3. Press the down arrow key to select Black (to clean only the Black ),Color (to clean Cyan, Magenta and Yellow) or you can select All (to clean Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow).

4. Press Ok.

    If you using XP try:

Your Brother machine does not support
fully Black and White printing. However, you can set the Brother
machine to print using the Grayscale mode. In this mode, the machine
still uses a lessened amount of the color ink cartridges. To change the
printer properties to no longer print in full color, complete the
    following steps:

STEP 1: OPEN THE PRINTER PROPERTIES:
    WINDOWS 98/ME/2000
    A. Click on START -> SETTINGS -> PRINTERS
    B. Right click on your Brother machine (example MFC-XXXX where X = modelnumber of your machine) and left click on PROPERTIES
    WINDOWS XP
    A. Click on START -> CONTROL PANEL -> PRINTERS AND FAXES (or PRINTERS AND OTHER HARDWARE, then PRINTERS AND FAXES)
    B. Right click on Brother machine (example MFC-XXXX where X = model number of your machine) and left click on PROPERTIES.
    WINDOWS VISTA
    A. Click on START -> CONTROL PANEL -> PRINTERS
    B. Right click on Brother machine (example MFC-XXXX where X = model number of your machine) and left click on PROPERTIES.
STEP 2: CONFIGURE THE PRINTING PREFERENCES
Depending on which version of the driver you are using, you will need tocomplete one of the following sets of steps.
    A. If using the Brother Original Driver:
    i. On the GENERAL TAB click the button for PRINTING PREFERENCES.
    ii. Click the ADVANCED TAB.
    iii.. Choose GRAYSCALE
    iv. Click APPLY -> OK
    v. Click OK to close the Printer Properties window. Your printer will now print in grayscale.
    B. If using the Vista built in Driver:
    i. On the GENERAL TAB click the button for PRINTING PREFERENCES.
    ii. Click the PAPER/QUALITY TAB.
    iii. Choose BLACK & WHITE
    iv. Click APPLY -> OK
    v. Click OK to close the Printer Properties window. Your printer will now print in grayscale.

Display fax gives a warning "received in memory" we also have a warning "prepare black toner" We can not print the fax! What can we do?

Generally the "received in memory" message is a result of the machines inability to print. I.E. It received a fax, attempted to print it, failed, and then stored it in memory to print once the issue has been corrected.

The Prepare Black Toner error is likely directly related. If the toner cartridge is empty, inserted incorrectly, or damaged it could be causing this error. Try reseating the cartridge by removing and reinserting. If that doesn't clear the error try replacing it with a new Canon branded cartridge.

As soon as you correct the printing issue the stored faxes will print.

HP 3055 All In One laserjet prints all black pages

Odds are that you have a bad toner cartridge; especially common when using remanufactured cartridges. (Staples, Corporate Express, etc.) Replace your cartridge with an OEM HP cartridge and you should be OK.

We just changed the toner in our fax, and now it's printing solid black pages out. Help!

Unplug the cable that connects the computer and printer together.
Plug the printer power cord into a wall outlet.
Print a self-test to determine if the problem is related to the printer, rather than the software.
If the problem occurs on the self-test page, replace the toner cartridge. A faulty or damaged cartridge may cause black pages.
Remove all accessories (cartridges, memory, I/O boards, etc.) and try to print a self-test again. Faulty accessories may cause black pages to be produced.
If the problem persists, the printer may need to be serviced.

I Need to Print

Sadly in a word, 'No'.

Here is the exact answer from Brother:

Your Brother machine is designed to stop ALL printing operations
(printing from the pc, printing received faxes and printing copies or reports) when any of the ink cartridges are empty. This is to ensure the life of the print head and maintain premium print quality. If the unit were to continue printing, print jobs and cleaning cycles would suction air from the dry cartridge and damage the printhead. Even if you print in black only or change the print settings to MONO or GRAYSCALE to avoid printing in color, the programmed cleaning cycles would still suction the dry cartridge, because they are programmed to clean ALL the ink nozzles.

The only way to continue printing is to replace the empty ink cartridge or cartridges.

While memory is available, black and white faxes will continue to be received into memory. If a color fax is being received, the Brother machines HANDSHAKE will request the fax be sent as black and white fax.

All faxes received into memory will automatically print once the ink cartridge is replaced.

NOTE: Brother strongly recommends that customers do not use generic ink or refill their Brother ink cartridges. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability since the ink formulation in genuine Brother ink cartridges prevent smearing and clogging of the print head. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that was caused by the use of unauthorized third party ink and/or cartridges.

Xerox wc 220 mfd

In FAX mode, try printing a FAX ACTIVITY REPORT from the FAX OPTIONS MENU. IF the print is OK, your scanner light may be defective, and must be replaced by a technician. If the print is black, the DRUM or something in the DRUM CARTRIDGE has no ground or shorted ground. Remove the DRUM CARTRIDGE and CAREFULLY brush or vacuum any loose toner you can see, and reinstall. DO NOT TOUCH THE DRUM ITSELF! IT WILL BE PERMANENTLY DAMAGED BY EVEN A FINGERPRINT! Otherwise, you may have to replace the DRUM CARTRIDGE. It can be purchased as a supply item.
