I would try a different computer first if that does not work it may be the drive is bad and would need replacement. For the most part memory has a good warranty so you may be able to have it swapped by contacting the manufacturer.

How to reformat a flash drive

Hi jabbbbbb6,
The Cruzer Micro is a flash storage device that connects to your computer's USB port. It comes in various sizes and fits on a keychain. If you want to erase the drive, you can perform a reformat from within Windows' Disk Management utility. After you reformat the drive, you do not need to reinstall any drivers because Windows automatically detects the device.

To Reformat, please follow the instructions:
1. Insert the Cruzer Micro to an available USB port on your computer. Right-click "Computer" and select "Manage." Click "Disk Management" under "Storage" on the left pane of the window.
2. Right-click your USB drive on the list of drives and select "Format." Select a name and file system type for your drive.
3. Click "OK" to reformat the drive. Click "Start" and "Computer" to access your drive.

Rate this accordingly.

Hope it helps.
Thank you for using Fixya.

PC is not detecting my Cruzer micro pendrive but

I have experienced this type of problem before. But what I did was to install an Avira Anti-virus on a system using windows xp and eventually it did open.

So you can try it as well or insert your flash into any another system that had a strong anti-virus which can enable you scan/format the drive.

Best of Luck

I accidently deleted the partition with my cruzer

Ok turn on PC, and have that drive plugged into the usb port. Find your my computer icon, right click on it and goto manage in the menu. This will open the computer manager, in the list on the left you will see disk manager under Storage. Click on disk management, in the window on the right you will see the different Hard Drives and Storage devices there. Look for the one that does not have a drive letter and may state unknown. Right Click on the device and Mark Partiton as active, then also format the drive. Viola! you should now have your Pen Drive showing up under my computer.

My 16 gb cruzer thumb drive lost data and says 0 info on the drice, won't reformat od show/do anything can it be recovered or fixed?

There are 2 support links for checking the Cruzer's connection status:

  • The Device Manager check
Flash drive could not be detected by the computer:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10

  • The Disk Management check
Flash drive could not be detected due to "drive letter conflict":

SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro USB I/O device error

I would recommend plugging your Cruzer into another computer. It's possible that your computer has corrupted or incorrect drivers for the flash drive. This is one cause of the yellow alert in Device Manager. If you move the flash drive to another machine and it works, you can save your data and make a backup copy. If your Cruzer doesn't work in a different computer (I would try at least 2 other working computers), it's possible that the flash drive is faulty.

How do you use sandisk cruzer gator flash drive?

Hi,
Try downloading the U3 driver, if you haven't already.
First plugin the sandisk to your usb port, and then check from WindowsExplorer, does your sandisk cruzer detected? you'll get a new driveletter besides your local drive or named "removable disk".
If you do see it then just do format (you'll lose the U3), copy, store, overwrite it again and again as you like.
If you still need the U3 application, pls read this:
http://www.u3.com/support/default.aspx#CQ1

You possibly haven't installed the driver properly.
If a wizard that comes up as soon as you plug the devicein, Just let it detect the device and then go to Control Panel, and System, and Device Manager, and double click on the devicedriver, or if it isn't there, double click on the unknown device withthe yellow exclamation mark and hit the Driver tab, Install Driver, andchoose the 'Let me choose the driver' option, and navigate to where youunzipped that driver you downloaded to, and click on the driver, wait forit to finish installing and reboot.

Let me know how you get on..
Good Luck!

Sandisk cruzer micro 2gb not detected

You only need to use disk management !!
for Win_XP:
Right click 'My Computer'.
Choose 'Manage'
In the left pane, under 'Storage', Choose: 'Disk Management'.
When device is connected it will appear as: 'Disk xx - Removable'.
It should be not allocated (Black Line), so you only need to created a new partition and format it.
Good Luck !! :-)
