Start Smarthru4, open task manager (ctrl-shift-esc), locate task controlpanel.exe (which is smarthru4), right click, set priority, low.
You should now be able to use smarthru4 without the PC freezing. It works for me. Why? I do not know.

How to set up portable drive for portable storage only on windows and mac

Hi John,

If you're only using to transport files from one computer to others, I would simply directories for each computer that will have files copied to the drive - naming them: "ToComputerA", "ToComputerB", "ToComputerB" and so on (or similar). You just need to know which computer is associated with each directory on the drive - so name them any way that helps you know which is which.

I'd copy files from any / all computers that needs to get on Computer A into the "ToComputerA" directory. Likewise, I'd copy files from any / all computers that needs to get on Computer B into the "ToComputerB" directory. I'd do this as many times as there are computers that need files. Once the files have been successfully copied to the new computer, delete the files from the portable drive as not doing so will fill the drive and also cause you to need to remember if files have already been copied yet or not.

You may need to put the files in very specific or same directories on two or more computers. You should duplicate the computer's directory structure on the portable drive in this case. That way, if you place several files that all need to go in different places / directories - you'll not have to remember where they go - as the portable drive does it for you ie: "ToComputerA/C/Users/John/ AppData/Local/..."

Make sure you're using USB 3 cables and the computers all have USB 3 ports for the quickest transfer speeds via USB.

Good luck!

Windows run doesn't keep my work history

you have to physically save any work
save the history to a usb drive in case you have computer failure

Plug the flash drive into your computer's rectangular-shaped USB drive.

Wait for Windows to recognize the system.

Windows operating systems use "plug and play" technology, which means that computer peripherals like USB flash drives can be recognized instantly by the system without further need for device configuration.

Open the drive on your computer.

Open the "My Computer" directory if using Windows XP or the "Computer" directory if using

Windows 7 or Vista. Locate the flash drive letter and icon under the section named "Devices with Removable Storage." Double-click the flash drive icon to open it.

Transfer files to the flash drive.

Click the "Restore" button in the top-right corner of the "Computer" or "My Computer" directory to shrink the window so that you can view your computer's desktop background.

Open the folders or locations of the files which you want to save to the flash drive.

Click and drag with your mouse each of the files and folders you want to save to the flash drive over to the empty space in the "My Computer" or "Computer" window.

Release the mouse button to let the files "drop."

Close the windows and directory locations when finished.

Save files directly onto the flash drive. From an open file (i.e. text, spreadsheet, image files. etc.), click the "File" menu and "Save as" option.

Select the "My Computer" or "Computer" directory in the drop-down menu at the top of the "Save As" box. Double-click the flash drive letter under the "Devices with Removable Storage" section.

Click the "Save" button to save the file onto the flash drive.

Close the windows and files when finished

hope this helps

Ethernet driver for dell dimension 4600

Hi stefyboy - Below is a link where you can download your driver. After you get to the page just make sure it says Windows XP as the operating system. Then scroll down and click on the + next to where it says network. You want the intel 10/100 driver. I've included a few a ways to install it. If your kinda new to this the easiest is the download to desktop method and just remember where it unzipped it to, you can always move it to a driver directory where you can keep all your drivers for the future.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_P4_4600&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If not, DO NOT RATE YET. Just add a comment letting me know what happened and I'll be glad to assist you further. Thanks.

Try saving the file on your desktop first, and see if it converts and saves correctly. Next, make sure that your external harddrive is detected correctly and visible under My Computer.

You could also try reinstalling the software and drivers. Try this first and let me know how it goes..

Sandisk Micro SD Card stops after 108 songs

Hi,

If you formatted the card first, you should have had a true value of the Size.
Even a true 1 Gig card, only has a capacity of 960mb.
As the card has to allow for a valid boot-block to be written to it.
This is so the read/write device, can recognise the drive/cards format i.e FAT/FAT 32 et,c.

I,d suggest that you have a 512mb card, that has a 1 gig sticker on it.

The chinese have a way of doing this with MP4 Players. they sell them as 4 gig, when you format them, they,re actually 1 gig or smaller sometimes.

I,d suggest backing up yhe card, and formatting it, to see it,s true size. And that your also using the correct Format.
