System is trying to boot to a network, this is most likely due to the hard disk drive not being detected, or the windows operating system is missing.
First reset the BIOS defaults, see if the system detects the HDD in the bios and will now boot.

Run diagnostics on the hard disk drive, which I suspect it will fail.
If diags on the drive pass, they try reinstalling Windows. But I expect you'll be replacing the drive.

A "media test failure, check cable" means your hard disk failed. The bios can not locate the boot sector of the hard disk to begin loading the operating system.
"Operating system not found" means windows can't load because the Bios can not find the operating system (because the hard disk failed).

This is pretty much an unrecoverable error in terms of fast fixes. You can take the hard disk to a data recovery service if you need to retrieve important data or files.

Hi, When I turn on my Laptop - Acer Aspire 5536, the following writing appears; Broadcom UNDI PXE-2.1 v11 .4.1 Copyright (C) 2000-2008 Broadcom Corporation Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel...

usually, this message means that when your computer is booting it is trying get the operating system files from a network location (shared folder)

what you need to do is to make sure your BIOS is not set to boot from network.

1. when the computer starts, there is a message like "to enter BIOS press Esc" or any other key like F2 or F10
2. in the BIOs settings, make sure the order of the boot is: DVD/CD then hard disk. make sure there is no Network booting in the list

This is showing because the computer is not seeing the hard drive that contains the operating system. In some cases this is because the hard drive has come dislodged from the interface on the motherboard. Dells are good for this because the hard drive slides into the side of some models. Try reseating the hard drive and reboot. Your worse case scenario is that your hard drive has failed. The reason you are seeing the PXE-MOF etc. is that the laptop ias now looking for a network hard drive to boot from. It can't find the intenal hard drive so it is searching for other means to boot.

Go into set-up and change the boot order to the hard drive you have your operating system on... then cd-rom. you may actually want to start with your cd-rom as it makes it easier when you are installing an operating system.

New hard drive, getting PXE-E61 media test failure, check cable

Broadcom is a maker of Network cards and PXE is a generic name for Network Boot Bios .. have you set your Laptop to boot from a network before CD ?? (go into BIOS @ power on and set CD first, hard disk second)

If not, then it can't see any other bootable device so ends up trying the network as a 'last resort' ...
