Hi,

You could be right that the TEV out of adjustment, but on a heat pump the more likely problem is that the charge is correct...

The charging of a heat pump can be very critical and it will require a pro with refigerant gauges and some knowledge of heat pump to do it correctly...start guessing and messing and you will have really big problems...

You should find a good qualified service tech to work on that for you...

I just had my furnace cleaned it is a gas rheem. The service guy said it was overheated because of a#3 tube he said the furnace heat exchange is black. What can be do regarding this

I presume you're talking about a gas furnace, even tho the title says Rheem gas water heater. Either way, it works the same for both.

Any black coloring on the heat exchanger is *not* from overheating. Black is from a sooty flame caused by a mis-adjusted burner. (In fact, a sooty flame is less hot). There is an adjustable "air intake plate" for air to enter the burner where the gas enters the burner. A proper flame is made by adjusting this air opening so the proper gas/air mixture feeds into the burner. If the air vent is closed too much it produces a sooty flame.
The age of the furnace is the most important aspect, and that helpful to determine a likely condition of the heat exchanger and burners. Other than a badly adjusted flame, the main thing to watch for is a badly rusted out heat exchanger. But black does not mean rust.

My water is not hot

There are two access panels on the heater, remove screws to access it. They cover the upper thermostat and element and the bottom covers the bottom thermostat and element.
The top thermostat is the main one that has a reset button along with a dial to turn up the heat for the top element. A white plastic knob that you can use a flat head screw driver to turn to adjust.
Also you have one on the bottom to turn to adjust the heat on the bottom.

This is how you adjust thermostat's to increase to a hotter setting.

Rheem glas fury water heater rattling

Thermostat may be heating element hotter than normal causing a change in temperature causing the noise. You could try adjusting temp down a little on thermostat. It sounds like it's getting the water very hot and thermostat may not be working correctly.

Need to change the thermostat on my Rheem Fury model #81V52DC. The water doesn't seem to be hot enough.

Yes well if thats the normal cause... also use a meter and check the resistance of the Element to see if it is NOT open circuit. Be Careful.

How can I adjust the time a rheem furnace Classic quiet 80runs?

Turn the thermostat down. If it's a mercury bulb stat, they are very inacurate and have a wide temp swing.

You could also just replace the thermostat with a good honeywell or white rodgers digital stat and get more accuracy, comfort and efficiency out of your unit.
