if it is a 11cfm compressor then it produces 11.8 cfm of air regardless of the pressure
pressure has nothing to do with cfm but with the restriction to air flow
for example the tire inflator -air hawk- has a very small cfm but as the tire restrict the air flow the pressure builds up to set pressure on the gauge
so if you want 100psi from the 11.8cfm unit just adjust the pressure switch to shut off at 100psi
Cfm is only important when using air tools as a compressor that is not capable of maintaining the cfm thereby the pressure to run the tools is not a good idea
as an example
a sand blaster that uses 11.8 cfm at 100 psi will not work on your compressor
that unit will require a 20cfm compressor to run it peoperly
You didn't give your model number so here's a possibility: If it's vibrating that much it's usually a good indicator the air pump connecting rod is broke. If it's been in storage it's possible the oil evaporated enough or it didn't have enough in it that it didn't lubricate the con-rod bearings. It would have started the first time but as heat built up in the bearing areas it could have seized up when it was shut off or broke when it tried to restart. You'll have to take the air pump apart to verify what's broke and what's damaged and what has to be replaced. Most Craftsman parts are only available through Sears (www.searspartsdirect.com).
It is possible that the compressor psi as it is running drops below the tire psi creating a standoff. You must maintain air compressor psi over 110 to fill a tire to 110psi. Add air to your tire but stop when the compressor motor starts to run. When the motor stops then continue to add air until the compressor motor starts and again stop airing up the tire. Repeat as needed.
the needle is for blowing up basketballs and balls etc. the regulator on the air compressor is for setting the pressure that is within the hose. if you want to blow up a tire to a certain pressure you will need a chuck with a built in guage you can get at the parts store or a separate tire gauge to see what you have the pressure built up to in the tire or whatever. ggod luck.
Dont leave it plugged! Take the things to your nearest battery expert specialist. Find in the directory. They'll rebuilt it, but you might need another loan on your house...
