Hi.

Test the camera using a 2GB memory card. Depending on firmware version the camera will accept only 2GB. Most models accept up to 4GB.

If that is not the problem, try formatting the memory card (try also with old malfunctioning card.

Instructions on how to format the memory card can be found at page 73 on the manual available below.

Here the user manual.

Regards.

Ginko.

Need driver for computer

You don't need a driver.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Protected card message on screen

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

All of them will work just fine. The main difference is that a larger card will let you take more pictures.

Card

The car can only go in one direction and flipped right side up. If trying it turned around doesn't help, make sure it is the right card for the camera.

FUJIFILM A170 Digital Camera will not take photo

check to be certain the battery is holding a charge, is inserted correctly, make sure the SD card is inserted correctly, IF it is holding charge and card is in correctly is the card full? if so empty it. if you have a SD card slot in the computer see if there are photos on the card if you dont have one in your computer and the camera hooks to the computer DONT DO IT! take the card to walmart, walgreens or somewhere they can see if something is on the card. we are trying to see if its a battery problem a card problem or a Camera problem. if the card is good and has no photos then put it in the camera and asuming the menus come up then format the card. try taking photos if this works great if not see if a friend will barrow their card to you to try in your camera make sure again that their card is BLANK otherwise if you have a bad camera it can blank their card too and you are SOL. try online and search for the model and see if you come up with others that have the same problem. read the manual and if you dont have it do a manual search for the camera model.
