Question about LG 42LC2D 42 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Our LG is 42LG30D and keeps "losing" channels, for instance for a week or so we lost all channel 9, 99, and 90 now we have not have any channel 7, 72, 73 on the digital band. We have run diagnostics and it still isn't working.

Hi are you sure it's the TV and not the remote? i see that first it was 9, 90, 99, commonality, number 9 key? Then you say 7, 72, 73, well here the 7 is common, i would suspect the keys on the remote, more than loosing channels?
There really is no mechanism whereby channels can be "lost" it's an all or none thing, i have heard of certain tuners dropping out channels due to atmospherics, as the set was constantly scanning.. however this is rare..
So check the remote, they can often get gunk and moisture under the rubber keypad, open it up and clean it out, with some good contact cleaner, or Meth's, and a cloth. The little gold fingers sometimes don't make contact well.

This problems is alway the airial positions of the antena work for some tv not for other.Because of wrong poistion tv or wrong antena position reception could work for one tv don't work for another tv.Buy another tv antena used for that tv for it alone will solved this problems.

Describe how to program channels on lg tv

Very simple -
You will need to find a feature that says 'Auto Tune'

This first will ask you to select between:
1) Regular TV - off air antenna - connection
2) Cable TV - connection
3) DSS TV - Connection

If you aren't ready for digital TV with your antenna or cable you may get very few channels.

Using my universal remote contol, lost sound on 2 TV channels

The solution is to change the audio input from SAP (secondary audio programming - default on TV sets sold in Canada) to Stereo or Mono. Your remote will need to be able to access the "Menu" settings screen for your television set.

I have to keep resetting the channels or unchecking the skip option on my Element FLX32FHDH tv. Is there a way where I can set this and not have to keep resetting it?

My Element FLX32FHDH seems to lose it's channel list if it is off for 6-8 hours. The channel up and down buttons don't work, and I can't key in a channel. In my case, if I hit "enter" before any other key on the remote, after turning on the set, the channel list menu will appear, with all the missing scanned channels showing. Pick any one, and the set jumps to that channel, and all functions are restored. The stored channels were not lost, but some sort of access flag or variable has been corrupted and the chip won't access the database. Not a fix, but potentially a work-around for you.

Lost ITV channels and C4

I think you need to get Sky because it will give you 100% coverage of all terrestrial channels. You may need to retune the television otherwise just get sky

Cannot keep all channels on tv

When you say you "lose" channels, you probably mean there's no signal there anymore but they are still in the channel memory. This is normal if you have a rotatable antenna. You need to mark the rotator (or just keep a chart nearby) with the heading for each channel.

If you mean you're losing channels from memory when rescanning after turning the antenna, the only solution I can offer is to record the channels found (and their signal levels) after scanning a direction. Then change directions and rescan. See what new channels have been found, what have been lost, or how signal level has changed on common channels. Then you can manually add whatever you need, and you'll know what direction is best for each. It's tedious, but you should only need to do it once.

Loss of channels

If you mean "losing" as in you could no longer tune to those channels because they disappeared out of the channel list entirely, then it's likely a software problem.  If you haven't already, try resetting your DVR to factory settings (since this unit is TiVo powered, it should be under the main menu, Messages and Settings, then Restart or Reset system; follow the on-screen instructions to reset the system).

If you mean "losing" as in you can tune to the channel but there's no signal, then that sounds like a tuner problem to me.  If the box is still under warranty or you lease it, have it repaired or replaced.  If you bought the box and the warranty is up, it looks like you might have to get a new one, or pay for the repair out of pocket.

You might also try calling back to DirecTV tech support and asking to be escalated or to speak with a supervisor; especially if it's a box you're leasing from them, since it is definitely *their* problem in that case.
