error code 0x0000227 when i intal audio driver

  • Edd Aug 01, 2008

Just put together new system based on ECS GeForce7050M motherboard and trying to use its onboard sound solution. I say "trying" because so far, despite *numerous* downloads of drivers and various other attempts to get around the problem, Windows (XP Pro SP2 for those who care) still claims i have "No audio device" installed. The drivers installed fine (as i said, numerous times, carefully uninstalling and restarting each time in between), but to no avail.
I am one attempt away from giving up and going out to buy a discrete soundcard. Can anyone offer a better solution?
My hookups are all correct, hardware works fine, it's just Windows refuses to recognize that it's there. (The driver software's test for 3-D sound setup plays fine through my speakers, but Windows can't play any sounds, system sounds or other.)
    HELP!

Are you installing it from a CD or from something else

Cannot get sound on any outlet port

Download and install Media Player Classic and use it.Are you using onboard audio or an add-on card? Make sure that the BIOS is set for one or the other (in other words, the internal audio disabled when using an add-on card), and installing the latest drivers for all.

Somehow lost my sound card driver

The super-cheapie models use Realtek AC97 2-channel drivers, while the multi channels use Realtex HD drivers. You can go direct to Realtek's website (google "realtek drivers" and go to their website.

Control Panel / System / hit the "hardware" tab, device manager, scroll down to "sound video and game controllers" hit the plus sign to the left, and your audio devices should be listed. The one with the yellow sign of doom is the problem device, and the name of the device is the one you want from Realtek.

Rather than let Windows search for it, I'd rather take it from Realtek, and run the install. Afterwards, burn it to a CD for use when you upgrade, or reinstall your OS.

That will happen sooner or later, so best be prepared.
