I have an Averatec 1000 ultralight notebook and would like to upgrade the RAM. What is the best plan of attack? Other laptop models I've owned had access panels for memory upgrades. Does the Averatec require disassembling the whole unit or are the memory slots under the keyboard?
You need to remove the base. if you can use a screwdriver and are careful you can do the lot.
also to make it easier, before u start dissassembly pop the cd drive and undo the 2 screws attaching the silver plastic cover to the drive.
then take the battery out. be careful when you remove the screws for the screen as when u have the case apart the screen brackets tend to get in the way. the speaker grill comes off in one single part.
you will void any warranty left too!
any questions email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
also if you have any upto date drivers that you've got somehow can you email me!
im looking for upto date vga, mouse and network.
windows update doesnt have it and i cant read korean to get onto the averatec site. the other site i found was a really didge site. :(

Unfortunately, more RAM cannot be installed due the limit of Slots available. However, you may be able to upgrade the current RAM modules and replace them. It appears it has 2048mb (2GB) of RAM which is possible split into two 1GB sticks. You "may" be able to upgrade to 4GB (split into two 2GB sticks). This is the current set up for the computer: 2048MB (4096MB max) SDRAM ' Memory Slots available for Upgrade: 0 ' Maximum RAM per available slot: 2048MB
yes it can but u have to upgrade your ram and mother board to
the best is Intel core i7 but if you are a normal gamer at home then it is better if u just stick to i3 or i5
the ram and mother board for these processor differ so you can ask the retailer for the best one the ram would have to be at least 2 GB ddr3
You can go for higher RPM Hard Drive which can improve your performance. Also you can buy a graphics card that suits your motherboard and it will also help you increase your performance.
There are so many ways to upgrade your computer other than the above stated stuff. Could you please let me know how you are planning to use the computer ?
Yes, you can increase the RAM of your Asus X53L, but first, please review/check the product manual of your laptop on what type & maximum capacity of RAM will its motherboard can support & compatible. Any Brand of RAM will do as long as your laptop motherboard is compatible wih & can support its capacity, this is being made to ensure best operations performance of PC. regards
remove the 4 screws from the stand, remove the 5 screws from the back, remove the 3 screws from the bottom. The back will now lift off. There are 7 screws around a silver aluminum cover on the inside. Remove them and lift the cover off and you will see the ram. Also, not where the wires run under the aluminum piece so as to not kink or cut them when reassembling.
FYI, same instructions apply for upgrading the CPU, GPU, and Hard drive ( although the aluminum piece doesn't have to come off to change out the Hard drive). I have put a 1.5 Tb drive in with an Intel E7400 C2D cpu and 4 Gb ram. My next upgrade will be to an ATI HD 3650 MXM type II gpu. (actually already ordered one but it arrived damaged).
