Asus u52 shut down unexpectedly

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

Running horse icon constantly running on computer screen

The running horse icon that you are referring to is most likely the mouse cursor in "loading" mode. You can change this icon by going to your control panel, and accessing the mouse options. Select the "Pointers" tab and find the horse icon in the list of set cursors. Select the horse icon, and change what cursor is being used.
Alternatively, shut down some of your unused background programs, like any instant messagers and things like that. The idea is that your computer is constantly working on something. If you remove all that background work, then the horse will not appear as often.

Hi i just bought a acer aspire 5100 laptop from a family member who no longer needed it... i turned it on and the touch pad was working fine. when i clicked on word pad the program poped up and i went to...

Seen this before and the only solution that seemed to work was to log on (use a usb mouse) and create a new admin account in users, Log off and log back on with the new account... worked for me and i then downloaded fresh touchpad drivers. , copied the files from the old account to the new one

My dv7's fans were running constantly and it was getting hot,now it just shuts down or won't boot up at all.seems like something with the heat protection or something.any ideas?

Hopefully no permanent damage has been done but I don't rule it out.
THe fan may have a blockage causing it to overheat. Place the plastic nozzle of a vacuum cleaner up to the air inlet and also the exhaust. That may fix it by removing the fluff etc.

I bought an Acer 5635z recently 2 months ago it won't shut down

It happens sometimes with vista. Just turn it off by holding the power button for 5sec and restart. it should work fine.

Lap top keeps shutting down

This is a heat problem. Get a can of compressed air and blow it into all the holes in the side of the computer and bottom (if there are holes there). Most likely there is dust build-up inside.
This should help.

be sure to rate my solution, please.

How to log off

If you log off you only close your user session under windows, not turn off the computer.

If you suspend you turn off almost everything in the laptop like hardwire, cd or dvdrom and most peripherals but the computer stays on the consuming power.

If you hibernate what windows does is to store all in memory in a temporary file in the hard drive and turn off all the computer so when you turn it on again it will be as you last session with all your programs and documents you left open.

And if you turn off the computer it will close all your programs, close windows and turn off all the hardware.

Start > turn off computer does not work on XP

Some process running in the background is not letting the system shut down. Use task manager to kill unnecessary processes before pressing turn off. If it shut downs then try to locate the process using taskmanager which is causing this problem.

Let me know if it helps.

Logging Off and won't come back on what to do

You can shut it down hard (by holding the power button until it shuts off), wait at least 10 seconds (for your hard drive to stop spinning) then start it up and then try shutting down windows normally instead of just closing the laptop's lid. You can then go into user accounts and delete all accept for your Administrative account (even Guest account), and see if that cures your ills.
Good Luck.
