Question about Toshiba Satellite L500 Series Notebook

1 Answer

Hi there My touch pad isnt working, it is enabled with the function key and i have uninstalled and reinstalled the correct one and correct drivers. when i install it it says it is successful and to restart for it to work but when i restart i get the same message again. the message is:This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24) I have also recovered my programmes and things since installing and have tried to install both types of mouse programmes (ALPS and SYNAPTICS) with the correct drivers and neither work. i have done a soft reset and also crashed the laptop. is there something i am missing or do i need to restore my laptop (which was another option i had, but wanted to try everything first)? Thanks Confused

It sounds like you have done everything you can, by the book.
If you are still getting code24 then your device has failed and should be replaced.

My touch pad isnt working at all, same with the clicky things below it.

Click Start/Control Panel and look for the Mouse and open it to check the mouse properties. Make sure you don't have the touchpad disabled.

Some models will allow you to toggle the touchpad on or off by clicking on the button that is located at the top of the touch pad in the middle.

Some models will allow you to toggle the touchpad by tapping twice in the upper left hand corner of the touchpad.

Some models will require a keystroke to toggle the touchpad. Press and Hold the ALT or FN function key located at the lower left portion of the keyboard, then hit the key that toggles the touchpad. The correct key to hit will have the icon of a finger pointing at a square that represents the touchpad.

Download and reinstall the touch pad drivers.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Dell Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Touchpad drivers.

Touch pad isn't working anymore.

Hi, to Enable the Pointer Device; go to, Control Panel, click (Mouse) in the Hardware and Sound category. Go to; Device Settings, in the (Devices) block, click on, and Highlight; the item you want to (enable) this being the Pointer Device. Click the Enable button, just below. Be sure to (Click) on the Apply button, click OK. You may need to Update Drivers. Click on Hardware, click Properties, click, on Driver. If the, Update Driver (block) is not Grayed-out click Update Driver, click (OK), this will ensure that the application take effect. Note: Restarting the computer will configure system changes in the computer applications to prevent errors, and to finalize the (Installing / Uninstalling) of programs, and or (Enabling / Disabling) of Hardware. I hope this will fix it. paul7of9

The "mouse" pad on my Acer Aspire 5920 laptop has suddenly stopped working. What can I do to mend it

You can try pressing the Fn + F7 key to activate it, if that does not help you can check in the BIOS if the touchpad is disabled.

Thank you for choosing Fixya

My touchpad mouse won't work. it does not respond

If you are using XP, check your mouse settings under Control Panel. Make sure that your Touch Pad is enabled. If it is but it still won't work, have a mouse plugged into a USB port that will work correctly. Then download the latest driver from the Acer site for your touchpad. Uninstall the driver that is currently being used by your system. Then install the updated driver that you downloaded. This should allow you to use your Touch Pad. If not, you may have to take your laptop in for servicing.
