There should be a small bleeder nipple on the waterpump, near the outlet connection. Usually, it is a 8mm or 10mm. Use a wrench and open it, allow it to drain and then start the motor to force out any leftover water. Leave the bleeder open so it can dry out good, to prevent rust in the valves. Also, I recommend to remove the fuel as well because it will not keep. Stabilizer does help, but it will usually fail after 3 months or so.

Winterizing a Washing Machine

If you keep your washer in area where you need to winterize for the winter (unheated garage or unoccupied vacation home), the following steps may provide you with some helpful guidance in preparing before extreme temperatures occur and possibly leave you with damaged plumbing and/or a ruined appliance.<br /> <br /> <b><u>TOP LOADERS</u></b>:<br /> <br /> 1. Turn off the main water supply to both water taps.<br /> <br /> 2. Remove the fill hoses, drain them of all water and reinstall them - leave water supply turned OFF.<br /> <br /> 3. Add 1 gallon of Recreational Vehicle (RV) antifreeze (non-toxic) to an empty wash tub.<br /> <br /> 4. Select the DRAIN/SPIN function on the timer and allow the washer to run for one minute to drain the antifreeze from the wash tub, and any water remaining in the drain pump or drain lines. <br /> <br /> NOTE: Not all the antifreeze will drain. A small amount will remain in the drain pump and line (this is normal).<br /> <br /> 5. STOP or CANCEL the timer on the washer and UNPLUG.<br /> <br /> 6. Wipe down and dry the wash tub.<br /> <br /> 7. Clean the detergent dispenser and fabric softener dispenser and ensure they are dry.<br /> <br /> 8. Store washer, unplugged in an upright position.<br /> <br /> <br /> <b><u>FRONT LOADER</u></b>:<br /> <br /> 1. Select the DRAIN/SPIN function on the timer and allow the washer to run for one minute to drain the antifreeze from the wash tub and any water remaining in the drain pump or drain lines. <br /> <br /> NOTE: Not all the antifreeze will drain. A small amount will remain in the drain pump and line (this is normal).<br /> <br /> 5. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to halt the cycle and UNPLUG the appliance.<br /> <br /> 6. Wipe down and dry the wash tub.<br /> <br /> 7. IMPORTANT: Check the perimeter of the door bellow (gray rubber seal) and make sure no small articles of clothing are left in the rubber folds. Clean this area thoroughly and dry. NOTE: Anything left behind will mildew over a period of time causing foul odors.<br /> <br /> 8. Clean the detergent dispenser drawer of any remaining water or fabric softener residue.<br /> <br /> 9. Store washer, unplugged in an upright position.<br /> <br /> <b><i><u>Secondary Method</u></i></b>: <br /> <br /> If you cannot find RV antifreeze (or prefer not to use it), another method of draining the washer is to remove the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum on the line with a wet/dry shop vac. This will pull any remaining water from the drain pump and lines. <br /> <br /> If a shop vac is not available, lowering the drain hose from the standpipe to the floor will allow it to drain using simple gravity. <u>IMPORTANT</u>: On a front loader, you may have to remove the drain line from the drain pump to drain the pump. Or, use the access cover (if equipped). Most front loader pumps are accessed by removing the lower panel directly below the door.<br /> <br /> <b><i><u>Taking the Washer out of Winter Storage</u></i></b>:<br /> <br /> To remove antifreeze from the washer following storage, run the appliance on a complete cycle with detergent and NO garments added.<br /> <br /> I hope you find this information helpful. If you have any questions, please let me know.<br /> <br /> <br />

I recently purchased a Scotsman outdoor ice machine which I love. We actually use it now as our primary ice. I'm reading the manual today though and have concerns that I might not be able to use it year...

Hi i am from south east Texas. your winters are close to what ours are. if it looks like it will get below 32 deg than you will need to winterize it but to do that it would mean shutting machine down and draining all the water from supply valve to sump tray. due to the ice will not melt as fast in the bin causing machine not to run as often as it would in warmer weather.

Center pipe was cracked when we took it out to replace the sand what would cause this plus there was sand under the bottom cover

Typically, the cracking of internal filter tank components is due to freezing temperatures over the Winter season. You should always COMPLETELY drain all water from your filter and store it inside during the winter.

Another reason is over chlorination of your pool water and/or adding chemicals directly to your water thru the wall skimmer.

How do i winterize my pool pump?

That should do it, just check for a 2nd drain plug on the pump housing. Depending on make and model the pump will have 1 or 2 drain plugs. Make sure both are out, if applicable. And don't forget to drain your filter and heater and any other components.

The water in the machine is not draining.

This is usually a pump issue - the pump controls draining and in some cases, spinning.

1) Drain water from machine by placing drain hose into a bucket on the floor.

2) check for obtsruction in the pump assembly (maybe a hairpin, or clothes peg was flushed through the wash) which will inhibit the pump propellor from turning.

3) if no obstruction, then likely due to faulty pump assembly.

Remove the drain plugs and install drain valves so you can open the drains by hand instead of always getting tools and eventually stripping the plug heads.
