Hi and welcome to FixYa!

The great thing about the newer Toshiba's is that they have an internal resetting system! This link works for all models 2007 and up!

http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-58528-reset-toshiba-laptop-to-factory-settings

Please read instructions carefully. I have reset other Toshiba's and it took a few tries when i was 'new' to these steps, but within a few minutes, it worked like a charm! I will also advise that if you have anything such as files or pics that you want to keep, save them to email or upload them to another site before you do this. This will wipe out everything, but it will run like a champ with a clean slate once this is performed!

Please rate my solution if you find this useful!

Hi, welcome to FixYa.

What the last activities that you have done with your laptop? If you haven't installed anything or did anything that would cause a computer virus gets into your computer, then most probably it's hardware failure. Try to contact the nearest Toshiba support near you.

If you did something like installing new software or tried to run some suspicious program from internet, either from email or website, you probably have become a victim of malicious software, either virus or wom. Try to install a good antivirus from the web. I suggest you to try one of these:

1. Kaspersky Virus Removal Tools, get it from: http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/avptool2010?level=2

2. Norman Malware Cleaner: http://www.norman.com/support/support_tools/malware_cleaner/

I hope this can help.

I have toshiba laptop satellite l650-15g core i5 is working to slow like Pentium 2 every think is opening to late please help me fast

use these steps:
1- reinstall your operating system (OS).
2- after the OS installed , download and install a powerful anti virus(with latest updates) (like NOD32 ANTI Virus or Kaspersky etc)

3- start a full scan (in anti virus options).
4- reinstall your OS again and enjoy fast speed.
NOTE:always remember to use an updated anti virus on your Laptop.
and if your laptop worked slow again use this way:
1- start "RUN" from start menu.(if you are using windows 7 go to accessories)
2- enter "msconfig".
3- go to startup tab.
4- disable some installed software (like yahoo messenger or ID Manager etc) in start up but be careful not to disable windows applications.

My laptop don't want started, after recovery problem report... list "welcome to windows" not out just a dart

It will be necessar to reinstall the operating software into the laptop as there has been loss of files in the program registry.
It will be necessary that the laptop is installed with an anti virus as soon as the OS is installed and the drivers installed to prevent future problems.

Touchpad and keyboard stops functioning

Sounds like you didn't have a very good anti virus :P Thats the only thing I can think of that would cause this.

Download an Anti-Virus software (I reccomend AVG if you want a free but effective one) and run a full virus scan. This could take a while but will find any infected files or malicious software in your system. Tell AVG to get rid of the viruses and continue using your laptop again.

If the problem persists then post again and I'm sure somebody could give you an answer.

Hi there!
Well it seems that you are in a bad situation my friend. So let me help you out.
It seems that your system files are corrupt & preventing it to go to windows (may be due to improper shut-down).

What to do?
Please remove the hard disk from your laptop, put it in an external 2.5" casing. Then plug it to another laptop or pc having a good anti-virus. Now switch on the other computer. The system will correct the files on boot. If this doesn't happen, go to my computer after boot. Locate the HDD in my computer \ your HDD \ properties \ tools \
Here you'll run chkdisk & scan for errors, bad sectors etc. After that scan for any virus in that HDD. Now back up your important stuffs & send it to your DATA partition.
Now shutdown laptop & remove the HDD from the casing, then put it back in your laptop. Now boot & see your problems solved.
Please send us your feedback & vote to motivate us.Thanks.

Doning Recoveries for Virus/Spyware problems

If your computer is getting slower even through a recovery, you should try making sure that all the cooling fans are clean. Just take a can of compressed air and give it a blast into all the air vents in your laptop. Make sure you do this with the battery out and the power off, just in case a little condensation gets inside the laptop.
Norton should be able to prevent viruses, but browsing habbits mean a lot when it comes to viruses. Avoid downloading files through peer to peer software. Many websites will install spyware onto your computer, and many software downloads try to bundle programs that run in the background on your computer. MSN messenger, for example will by default try to install the MSN toolbar, and other small bits of software that can add up to really slow down the machine.
If you're using windows Vista, it's good to have at LEAST 1GB of RAM, and even then Vista can demand much more, causing you to fall into paging file usage, which really slows a computer down.
If you're using Windows XP, make sure that you are completely up to date, as many exploits have been discovered, and patched with automatic updates.

Hope this helps.

Laptop keeps rebooting.

It can be a hardware problem (defective memory) or a software problem (defective OS) and/or virus infection.
