Question about Bosch Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a Bosch 5306 from about 2001. It seems my problem is not unheard of, but the description of the diagnostic routine I've seen is lacking. My problem is this: Poor Cleaning / EXTREMELY Prolonged Cylce Time (i.e., Timer starts off at some time... then jumps UP to longer time... counts down through the cycle... stays on "1" for hours). I'm okay enough with tools and manuals to consider fixing it myself and am looking for: a) reasonable diagnosis; b) source for repair (not owner) manual; c) opinion as to whether it'd be worth it; d) anything, really, that could help.

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. Based on your description I'd say the issue is most likely with the control...unfortunately. If you want to post back with your email address I can send you a service manual ( not owners manual ) and a better explaination of what's to follow. It all gets bunched together via my iphone which I'm using presently. Anyway, Bosch has had a history of this exact problem I'm about to lay out for you and this is the first thing I'd be looking for if called out to service the unit with the symptoms you've described. **B/S/H/ also issued a recall on certain models between 1999 - 2006 depending on the model & serial number, and it does apply to yours....based on just the model number, but check the serial number. It applies to serial numbers betweenFD7905 - FD8505 The issue was directly related to the heating circuit (specifically the heat relay on the control) Here`s the link if you want to see for yourself ** http://microsites.boschappliances.com/safetyrecall/dishwasher/ As I've alluded to the issue is likely within the electronic timer/control, specifically the heater relay solder joint. ( a faulty flow switch, ntc or heater can also cause this, but not very probable ). My first suggestion would be contacting Bosch re: the recall or calling in an authorized bosch service tech. if that is an option for you and your budget however, If you feel capable of checking this on your own, there`s a way to visually inspect the control yourself. It will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board. The culprit will 99% of the times be one of the pins from the heater relay, inspect the solder joints, it will be obvious when you see it...hence the unit sit`s and takes longer & longer to finish eventually displaying the "1" error because it can`t heat to advance or unless the 2 buttons for "cancel" are pressed...or takes a long time as I mentioned. You can also run the unit through a regular or econo cycle ...any cycle with the exception of rinse & hold, and with the door panel removed place an ammeter on the gray/black wire it should draw 11 amps during the wash cycle...after it fills and the flow switch indicates it has adequate water to engage the heater. **My Opinion - if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...but it has to be done well...or it will not last, although Bosch recommend`s replacing the control and I don`t pretend to speak on there behalf nor do I profess to know better. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?)** **Please disconnect the power or turn off the breaker before attempting any service to the dishwasher.** As you alluded to though, sometimes one needs to call a tech. If you do not feel comfortable attempting this service, call a local pro, preferably one familiar with Bosch/Thermador/Gaggenau/Siemens, to service your machine. Hope this answer`s your question, let me know if I can assist you further. Thank`s for visiting "FixYa" for your repair inquiries. Please take a moment and rate this solution to it's helpfulness. Good luck. Regards, Macmarkus :)

Error code 08 says it's a temperature sensor problem. If the temp sensor is bad, the water heater may not be getting the water up to a hot enough temperature to dissolve the soap block. Also, while you have the unit out for repair, make sure that the drain hose is clear of debris. I have seen a number of dishwashers lately that were replaced simply because they "weren't cleaning" or "draining slowly" where the only problem was a blocked drain hose.

Bosch dishwasher model 6800 has timer irregularities

Don't have an answer, but am experiencing the same problem.
I had to rebuild the control unit of our Bosch Excell Dishwasher. Replaced a blown relay on the CPU.
Dishwasher seems to now work fine - i.e. fixed the lack of heating problem, but it still tells me the cycle will take 74 mins instead of the usual 32mins. The cycle then actally takes more like 35mins to complete.
Any help much appreciated.

AC on central air seems to be working but volume seems low, not like before

Your A/C may be suffering from a lack of air flow as a result of bent or otherwise damaged coil fins. For more information, please review the following handy diagnostic article:

While your description is quite broad, I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Allroad Tiptronic Gearbox "holding" gears before changing up.

Have you had the vehicle put on a diagnostic machine, does the car feel slugish, any lack of power, we have seen a lot of these vehicles with air mass sensor faults. When they fail they do not show a code but with the right scanner they can be seen not working. This affects the gearchange because the ecu does not have the correct data to shift. Of course it could also be the transmission is in need of overhaul. but i would take it to a good diagnostic garage first. It is not uncommon for the air mass sensor to fail after it has been disturbed or knocked in the workshop. we have never found out why.
