Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Maybe a dumb question, but I have and old computer microphone ("AM-32") that hasn't been used in years -- I remember eventually getting it to work on a computer about 6 years ago. I now have a new computer, and am expecting a skype call any minute (skype is all set up on this computer, but I can't do the test call). Plugged the mic into the mic jack on the computer, but can't seem to get it to hear me. I've tried the volume icon in the system tray - Mic volume isn't an option shown. In control panel/speech, there is no option for audio input devices. Btw, when I plugged in the mic, the computer acknowledged that a mic had been plugged in. Any ideas?

    Testing microphone signal for later use. When plugging in mic (to proper pink jack - either behind or at front of unit), lots of 'windstorm' sound. Adjusted recording volume for mic in control panel settings. When volume cranked to MAX, I hear voice test very faintly only. Opened PC. made sure wires properly plugged in, dusted out the unit. Still nothing more.

Hi lorne;
please double check the port you plugged in, is it color coded? green are for the speakers, i think pink would be for the mic, try to reboot your computer while your mic is still attached to you pc.
