How to start poulan 18 inch wildthing chainsaw

Hello Wade,
There should be starting instructions on back on saw, if not its usually the same for most saws. Fill tank with proper mixed fuel. Add bar and chain oil if necessary. Pull knob out to "start" position. Pull choke all the way out. Prime unit 6 times. Place saw firmly on floor, slide right foot under handle and have left hand firmly on top handle. Pull throttle and lock it in high. Pull rope 4 to 5 times until unit pops. Then, set chock lever on half.(this is usually pushing in half way). Pull rope again 4 to 5 times until unit starts, then after 30 seconds or so push choke knob in to turn choke off. If this procedure doesn't work, give it 10 minutes or so, because unit may be flooded, then try again. Good luck!

I have just purchase a Sears 22 Lawm mower, with a Briggs and Stratton 158cc engine. I prime the motor it act like it wants to start but then dies. I pull it and try to strat it several more times and it...

The procedure for starting an engine is as follows:
  • Check that you have the throttle in the start position and/or on high revs with choke on
  • Prime the engine by pushing the button about 5 times
  • Pull out the cord until you meet resistance. Then let the cord go fully back into the engine and then pull the cord out sharply. Repeat this until the engine starts but not more than a few times.
  • If the engine doesn't start, try pressing the primer button another few times then try to pull start the engine
  • If the engine doesn't start after a few pulls it may have flooded so leave it for a few minutes before pulling the starter rope

How do you prime the fuel injectors on an isuzu rodeo 1994 I4 2.6l engine? changed fuel pump and all fuses are good but not getting any fuel to system. i turned key on and let the new fuel pump kick on but...

What you need to do is turn the key on and let the fuel pump run. Turn the key off and repeat about 20 times or so. Eventually it will start it just takes some time to get it primed. You can also do that and on the fuel rail there is a re-leaf valve. Crack that open to get the air out until you get a steady fuel stream.

The chainbrake should be activated when starting the chain saw. Activate the chain brakeby pushing the front hand guard forwards.b>Cold engine Start position, 1: Set the start/stop switch in the choke position by pulling thered control outward - upward.Decompression valve: Press the valve to reduce the pressure in the cylinder and makestarting easier. Once the machine has started the valve will automaticallyreturn to its original setting.Air purge: Press the air purge diaphragm repeatedly until fuel fills thediaphragm (at least 6 times). The diaphragm need not be completely filled.Grip the front handle with yourleft hand. Hold the chain saw on the ground by placing your right foot throughthe rear handle.Pull the starter handle, 4: Pull the starter handle with your right hand and pull out thestarter cord slowly until you feel a resistance (as the starter pawls engage)then pull firmly and rapidly until the engine fires.Push down the red choke control: As soon as the engine fires which can be heard through a"puff" sound, push down on the red choke control.Pull the starter handle (6): Keep on pulling the cord powerfully until the engine starts.

Will not start and doesn't even fire. New saw used once. New mixed gas added and sill no fire. Acts like the on/off switch is not operating properly??

Take the saw outside and have a fire extinguisher handy.

SCENARIO #1)
With the switch in the OFF position, remove the spark plug and SLOWLY pull the rope.
CAREFUL HERE!
If you notice raw, liquid fuel coming from the spark plug hole you have a fire hazard in you bare hands!

Gradually increase pulling speed to see if you notice any fuel vapors or mist coming from the spark plug hole. If you do, you have found the problem: It's flooded.
Continue pulling rope and use an air blow gun to LIGHTLY blow into the spark plug hole and dry the cylinder. You should pull 20 or 30 times while blowing air in.

SCENARIO #2)
If the cylinder is bone dry reattach the spark plug wire to the plug and touch the outer shell of the plug (or the threads of it) to a metal surface on the saw's engine (AWAY from the spark plug hole!) You can use any metal object to conduct the electricity and increase your reach if needed. Turn the switch back on and pull the rope medium speed and check for spark on the electrode of the plug. If no spark, turn switch to other position and repeat.

NOTE: IT WILL NOT SHOCK YOU as long as you maintain contact with the outer shell of the spark plug and the engine's metal parts.
If spark is present, reinstall plug and try again.

Be sure the choke lever is set properly for either cold or warm starts (whichever applies) and it should start easily for you in the future.
Hope this helps!

New 445 husqvarna chainsaw will not start

Drain the fuel tank, look inside the tank to ensure that the fuel line inside still has a fuel filter attached to it.
Look at the on/off switch ensure that both the wires are still attached to the switch securely.
Check that the plug still has spark, if unsure replace the plug.
Check the air filter to ensure that it is clean.
Mix the gas 50:1.

My poulan chain saw sat for about 2 yrs with gas in it. I emptied the tank, put new gas in it along with a carburator cleaner but it will not start. lost the manual for it and don,t know which position to...

Empty out the gas and replace with proper gasoline mixed with oil in the proper proportion. Always use a good quality 2-cycle oil that contains a fuel stabilizer.
To start the generic chainsaw, follow these steps:
1. Pull the choke all the way out
2. Press the fuel bulb serveral times to prime the carb - you can feel when the fuel flows into it.
3. Set the lock on the trigger to full speed.
4. Now, pull the starter rope until the saw sounds like it tried to start.
5. Press the choke in to the 1/2 way position.
6. Pull the rope until it starts.
7. Release the trigger lock and push the choke all the way in.

If starting it when it is warn, skip steps 1 and 4.
It is unlikely that the spark plug is the problem. If you replace it without properly setting the gap, you may make it worse. If you start trying to adjust the carb without knowing exactly what you are doing, you will make it much worse, You can try spraying some carb cleaner into the carb and pulling the rope to such the cleaner into the jets.
In the future, always add fuel stabilizer or oil with a stabilizer to you gas/oil mix. This prevents the varnishing caused by aging gasoline.
