Print a test page, then place the printed test page on the scanner glass and press the scan button to align the catridges and see how it goes when you try to print again.

I have a dell v505w MFP. I am getting an alignment message and the printer does not recognize the new black ink cartridge that I installed. I printed a test page by placing the test page on the glass with no solution.

I ran out of ink and replaced my cartridges. When I tried printing the alignment, it printed the alignment, then gave me the error message of ERROR 2200 and also says "Alignment problem. Remove tape...

Try cleaning the Gold section of the cartridges with a wet paper towel.

Unplug the printer and clean the gold contacts on the printer where the cartridge meets up to the printer with a wet paper towel. Do this till the towels come back clean.

Dry both the contacts on printer and cartridges.

Allow at least 30 mins for the printer to dry.

Plug the printer back in and reinstall the cartridges.

Align the cartridges,

Hope this helps.

Procedures for clearing clogged inkjet cartridges and printheads

The following information may not apply to all inkjet printers, but it will sometimes save your cartridges, and might salvage the printer also.

Here's a trick I've used with some success. Depending on the cartridge, this is for carriage mount styles like HP, Lexmark, Canon (current models) and others. Remove the cartridge and soak the printhead portion, where the tiny jets are located, in a small shallow dish with clear alcohol. Try swooshing it around a bit, and you may start seeing a discharge of the ink color you're using. You may need to repeat the process more than once. Let it soak some more, dry it off and reinstall.

If the old ink is dissolved, then the cartridge may start printing, and it will be a little "weak" until the alcohol is mostly evaporated or used up. This is not a guarantee to work all the time, but it's worth a try. The "tank" style cartridges like Brother uses are another story, since they are reasonably priced containers with no printhead.

They have a tubular system feeding ink to the printhead on the carriage. Either the printhead nozzles or the tubes could become clogged, and require factory service, or a pretty elaborate set of disassembly procedures to clear the blockages. I have had mixed results, refilling an empty cartridge with alcohol, and allowing that cartridge to try feeding the tubular system, and dissolving the dried ink. If it succeeds, then simply install a new or known good cartridge, and the problem may be solved.

I hope these tips will give you a chance to get your printer and/or inkjet cartridges operating again.

Regards, Bill

Cartridge alignment problem - it says to remove tape from cartridge or troubleshooting. There is no tape on the cartidges.... HELP!

Are you using Dell Series 9 ink cartridges?

Unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Plug everything back in. This will reset any error messages the printer has.

Power on the printer. Open the printer and take out the Dell Series 9 Black cartridge. make sure all the tape is off the cartridge and put the cartridge back in. Now do the same for the Dell Series 9 color cartridge.

You are using Dell Series 9 ink cartridges, correct?

Dell Series 9 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.

Dell Series 9 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.

Black cartridge = black side(left side) Color cartridge = color side(right side)

Photo cartridge = black side(left side) Color cartridge = color side(right side)

It is possible to get a Dell Series 9 cartridge with a bad sensor. Contact the place of purchase for a replacement.

Dell V305w Printer Alignment problem. Remove tape from cartridges or check troubleshooting. Press > to continue. Ink cartridges reset, tape removed, trays aligned. HELP!

In my case this happened with black cartridge out of ink, colour cartridge low; replaced black: had permanent alignment problem, though test print looked OK; wouldn't print black. Replaced colour cartridge, then it all worked OK, straightaway!

Alignment problem

Here's a solution from Dell Technical Support hotline - just hit cancel as soon as the pirnter starts the alignment process. It worked for me! You will have to cancel the alignment page every time you turn on your printer, but that's better than no printing at all.

Either there is a bad contact with one of the inks ( take it out clean the contacts w/ alcool),or turn it off open the printhead area and try putting it back to it's original place, which is usually on the far right.
