The scan funcation was a option when the copier first came out. This copier is a bit old, to scan you would need to install a PCB to allow it to do it. It may be hard to find the PCB, if you do it may cost more then you really want to put into the copier. It most likely will cost less to buy a new copier with all the funcation from the factory. Good Luck

thanks a lot for your answer, but what's a PCB?

Printed Circuit Board. You need to purchase and fit the board if it is still available.

Printer says no scan options but its an all one

Hi! My name is Mace and I'm here to help.

Scan options will not be available if you failed to install the scanner driver in your computer.

How do you know if the driver for scanner is not installed? Connect your printer directly to your computer. Meaning, it is locally connected and not on network. Assuming you are using a Windows OS, on Control Panel double click Scanners & Cameras icon. See if your unit is listed. If your unit was not there, then it means that the driver was not installed.

I do suggest you run again the cd installer that comes with your printer all in one to install the driver for scanner.

I hope this answer will help you. Post back if you still have some questions.
Thank you for using Fixya.

Hi
I think you will need to run the cd installer again to install the scanner driver on your printer.

You can check if the driver of the scanner was successfully installed once you view on the Scanners & Cameras inside the Control Panel and see the image of your printer scanner. It means it is connected and ready to be used. If you can not see the icon of the printer scanner there, then, it could not be installed or the printer is attached to other pc in the network.

Remember to use the printer as scanner, it should be attached locally to the pc you are using. Pressing the Scan button in the printer will save the scanned documents in the computer as pdf files.
In order to save the documents as jpeg files, you must need to use the scan option on the Scanners & Cameras inside the Control Panel.

Hope it helps. Just post back if you still have questions.

Use of Scanner

On this model there is a SCAN in black and white or color buttons but you need to have something on the glass to scan. Once it scans it prints!!!

Now lexmark software if installed comes with a program to scan with. you need to check under your prgrams folder under lexmark for the scanning software that was installed with the print driver.

If you open the lid and you do not see the white light chances are your scanner has and needs a bulb inside and at the point to install one of these you might want to concider a new printer.

Please be considerate and leave your feedback and comments and ratings before you leave, Thanks

MFP usally means Multi Function Printer and these tend to scan as well as fax and print. Install all the software and it should be pretty self-explanitory. They may be a scan button on the printer or in most software packages such as Word.

HOW TO SCAN THE DOCUMENTS IR4570 TO P.C ????

On the device you want to chose the SCAN option and set it to ONLINE.
You then need an application that does TWAIN scanning and aquire image data. Set your scanner device yo "Canon Color Network Scangear".
A freeware product you can use to test is irfanview
You would otherwise need to do an aquire / TWAIN scan from MS Word or Adobe Acrobat (full/pro) or another software that does TWAIN scanning.

HP PRINTER PHOTOSMART C4180 on WINDOWS VISTA

Although the original poster mentioned networking he/sredm.gifhe also seemed to be asking about HP all-in-one issues in general and Vista compatibility. Networking, scanning, copying and printing can have seperate and integrated issues to varying degrees. This may not just be a scanner networking general query.

In my case I downloaded and installed the additional bundled software per HP's advice while trying to get the scanner to scan at the dpi level advertized for the unit. Neither Vista or HP had drivers that worked unless I installed the package. Low resolution scanning worked fine as well as the copying and printinting features. I rarely need such high scanning options but it should have worked as advertized since it was sold by an HP distributor as Vista compatible.

The downloaded AIO did allow higher resolution when scanning but caused other NON-NETWORKING issues. My computer is not networked. There is also the issue of the scan button on the printer not working with Vista. It does work with pre-Vista. Again not a network issue but a driver issue with Vista.

Taken from the MHTML file from the unit software found after the purchase......

HP Printers - The Scan Button on the Printer Does Not Work Correctly When the Printer is Connected to a Windows Vista Computer

Issue
When the scan button is pressed on the printer, nothing happens. The scan button does not work correctly.

Solution
Scan documents using Windows Fax and Scanning or Paint.

Cause
The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the printer. END EXERPT.

Button functionality. DPI resolution. There are driver issues with some of the HP units and Vista. Not just networking issues.

In my opinion these issues should have been fully disclosed prior to purchase or functional Vista drivers should be an option. Therefore I offer the warning that Vista may have issues with this and other software and hardware.

I only speak of non-networking issues but either way a unit should work as advertized or sold. My comments are based on my personal experience with one unit in this particular situation. After all Vista is fairly new to most of us.
