To be totally honest it usually isn't a good idea to use stop leak when you have a frost plug leak. The best solution is to have it replaced. If this is not an option, I recommend Bar's stop leak, it has worked very well for me in the past.

Most likely a frost plug, you may need a mirror to see it.
The head is not likely to just leak from the back, check for steam from the exhaust when hot.

if you have not fixed your problem with your montero yet it may well be a freeze plug and not the radiator hose connection. also to prevent the same problems in the future this vehicle has a downflow cooling system and causes LOTS of debris to settle in the engine causing erosion of certain parts of the cooling system (freeze plugs) hope i was helpful. keep your cooling system clean.

My 1994 chevy caprice is leaking water

will try to help. where is the leak coming from? can you tell?under the front of motor where the engine fan is? could be water pump. could be a busted hose, upper or bottom radiator hose.there are 2 hoses that run to your heater core at the firewall or dash panel, could be there. leaking from sides of engine? could be a freeze out plug rusted through or if it's gotten below freezing and you did'nt have anti-freeze, most likely a freeze plug, they are designed to save your engine block from busting when you don't have anti-freeze in freezing weather. if you can repost your problem with a location, front, sides, or inbetween the back of engine and transission, i can help you. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Once the plug is changed it should last for years, however if you over torque the expandable ones they can fail in a short time. Try having it replaced again and it should last a long time.

2001 VW Passat leakin water

I would highly suggest a pressure test to really pin point this leak. I can tell from diagram that the coolant expansion tank line goes right thru that area. I would also caution you to the obvious with this vehicle- everything is a tight fit and coolant leaking from the t-stat housing and or water pump could look similiar. I strongly suggest a pressure test to keep from throwing good money away.
