Consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

How to transfer internal memory pictures to computor

You have two options:

1) Remove your memory card from the camera, if you have one. Then connect the camera to your computer using the supplied USB cable.

2) Use the "Copy" command in the Playback menu to copy the pictures from the internal memory and then download the pictures from the memory card. Once the card is plugged into a card reader attached to your computer, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Nikon Transfer.

Can you please tell me why when i try to import vidoes using picture motion browsing i am getting the message Cannot find source media for importing,

You might be connecting the Camcorder using USB interface. Picture Motion Browser Cannot be used for transferring videos from tape camcorder (mini DV in your case) using USB interface..

Operating System also matters..

If you're using XP OS, you can install the driver from supplied CD and use Windows Movie Maker to transfer the recordings using USB interface.

Vista, Windows 7 - You need to use i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer the recording. When using i.LINK with Vista, you can use the Picture Motion Browser software.

I think this will definitely help you to connect the Camcorder..
