Question about Computers & Internet

Help! My Dell Inspiron Desktop (Windows 7) went into sleep mode, I shook the mouse to use it and got a black screen with just the mouse pointer. I powered down & back up, got the Dell screen and the "Resuming Windows" loader screen but then it returned to the black screen with just the mouse pointer. I've found several solutions, all involve getting an explorer or task manager open, neither of which i can do. I'm getting NOTHING but the black screen with the mouse pointer. Ican't remote access the PC from my laptop either. PLEASE HELP!

My guide might help you, it's worth a try, it is entitled My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!!

Sounds like a windows error though, some how the installation may have been corrupted. I suggest performing a virus scan on a test PC. An alternative is to take it in to a computer technician.

Thanking you
Happy testing

Dell Inspiron 530s Desktop fan motor keeps running

It\'s NOT the fan. Check the power save settings on the computer ITSELF. Check your BIOS settings as well. Inspirons ALL do the same thing with waking up.

My dell Inspiron 530s goes to power save mode screen is black can't see anything fan is on what can I do

Do you get a screen if you boot from the CD/DVD drive using the Windows installation CD/DVD disc. If not, you probably dis-lodged
a cable or plug when installing the drive.

Want to make my computer pointer black and larger so i can see it better how do i do this?

I have found that the best way to adjust your mouse settings is to create a control panel in your bottom toolbar scroll to the bottom of your screen right click you will see an array of options select the toolbar option then select desktop

then you will see the desktop in the bottom toolbar select the 2 >>arrow heads then all control panel items then select mouse this is in WINDOWS 7

in XP you will have to select the new toolbar option once you have that a browse option select my computer then control panel then a control panel option will be in the bottom toolbar

click on the >> or the control panel for xp

navigate to the mouse select the pointers tab you will see a browse option where you can change the mouse pointer to black

Black screen during log in

Try booting in safe mode by hitting F8 every second after you turn it on until the boot screen comes up. Then select "safe mode" If it loads up in safe mode then delete the graphics driver from Device Manager.

If you were able to delete the driver in Device manager then reboot and get the driver from here:

I am unable to access the internet from sleep mode Can only get on internet from shut down mode

Three possible causes of sleep mode. first, an extensive screensaver with password lock prevents display. A condition that is observable as a blankscreen also known as sleep mode. Second, a computer power saver settings that shutsdown during idleness. Third, An improper shut down of the computer would have caused a sleep mode to save the system data files.

Restoring the computer to regular functionalioty

First solving predictable sleep mode settings
1. A movement of mouse pointer across the screen should reestablish unprotected password modes
a. password protected sleep mode would display an promp message requiring key code soon after the mouse pointer has changed direction

sloving unpredictable sleep mode settings
1.A computer power saver, screen saver, or splash screen displays prevnting programs acess would require manually powering off the computer system.
a. A manual power back on of the system should restore to program functionality mode

I ave dell 1525 while i am usiging my laptop after few minutes it will go sleep mode i mean screen display will be sleep can i have any soulation for this

Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop ???

When looking at your desktop with no other applications running, press F1. This will call up the Help Mode. Looks like a battery problem. If your battery won't hold its charge, it may be time to shop for a new one.

Also, pressing F8 during the time the screen turns black and before the Windows Logo appears will put into "Safe Mode". This may help conserve power while you run diagnostics, if you call Dell customer support, they should be able to assist you at no cost. I hope this helps.

I just bought a new Inspiron laptop, as well as a Kensington USB docking station and a Dell WM311 wireless mouse. I can't get the mouse to work at all, and can't get the docking station to work properly...

Closing the lid of most laptops sends a signal to put the machine in hibernate or sleep mode. You can either leave the lid open or change the power savings settings. In Win 7, this is in the Control Panel but can also be reached from the advanced power savings settings from the Screen Saver. Click on the desktop (anywhere without an icon or running program) and select Personalize. Click on the Screen Saver and then Change Power Settings. Then Change Plan Settings (look for the line Advanced Plan Settings and the section marked Power Button and Lid).

I don't know enough to help you with the mouse problem. I'd check the batteries for the mouse first. Then ask Dell.

I wish that I could be of more help.
