Question about Dewalt DC011 AM/FM Radio

2 Answers

Dewalt radio dc011 does not turn on with a battery or plugged in, but will charges a battery when it is pulled in. I've changed the two AA batteries and checked both fuses (they were both good). when i had it opened up there were no signs of electrical failure no loose wire and all the wire harness seemed to be plugged in. I don't know if this is a common problem with these radios but I'm the second person i know of with the same problems. please help me fix it so i don't have to buy a new radio!

i found the switch that i think your talking about. i blow all the dust out of the radio with a compressor, so it should be clean now. i plugged back in the radio a can hear and fell the switch flipping over but it still doesn't work.

On the power cord input/slot there is a switch there that serves as a selector for battery and AC power in.Whenever the power cord is inserted it triggers the switch and power off the battery If the cords is remove the battery activates.see if this switch is working or replace the switch.good luck!

The switch is found right on the power cord input.Once the power cord is plug in the charging automatically activates if the power cord is pulled out the switch should engage to off position and activates the batteries. That is a single pole two position switch. One is for charging and the other one is for activating the batteries. The switch might just requires cleaning the contact or the battery terminal is not soldered properly.pull out the switch and examine the contacts by using a continuity test with an multitester . thank you !

You have a short somewhere and/or the charging unit has gone bad. I would replace the charging unit, this component is know to go bad on the DC011. After you replace it your radio will work perfect again.

Check fuses inside. Check fuse and connections in plug. If this is a 110v radio there is one on transformer winding

When I shut the radio off the clock and radio memory goes to How do I set the clock and stations so that when I tur it on I have the clock and stations.

Have you inserted 2 x AA batteries in the back where you charge the Dewalt batteries? there is a cover with a black phillips screw, this is where the AA batteries go for the memory clock & radio presets.
