I own a Maytag Model# MDE6700AYW: Problem: When powered on "65" in display; I turn selector to a setting = "Clicking" noise on circuit board transformer, but no action. 1) A Sears Appliance Technician ordered a replacement Motor; 2) The Motor was replaced today but problem is still occuring - do I order the Circuit board?

Hi jyackle5 - I received the board today, replaced it and it is doing the same thing... AHHHH! (sorry - been without a dryer for a few weeks). There isn't much left from what I am looking at - any other suggestions are greatly appreciated thank you much

  • thestoneman1 Nov 17, 2010

I took everything apart again and reseated the connections with same result... no luck, same symptom? just clicks... (new motor, new PCB, all vent passages are clear, dust cleaned out) is there a way to jump some of the sensors... to bypass them to help isolate? That's what I did to the door switch) to check after I reseated the white wires while still apart

  • thestoneman1 Nov 18, 2010

I am choosing to ask another expert, thanks: Previous recommendations seem logical troubleshooting steps: So far I have
    1) replaced a motor
    2) the Printed Ckt board (PCB)
    3) reseated all of the white terminal connections...
RESULT: same symptom, I turn the knob on it chimes, LED lights up; I push the knob to start but nothing happens - the relay on the ckt board clicks but nothing happens.

  • thestoneman1 Nov 18, 2010

I did replace the Main Circuit board PCB = same symptom (I guess you didn't read the additional comments). Will the LEDs still light if the source power is off or would I get a code? thanks

It sounds like the problem is a blown safety thermostat located on the blower housing or the belt cut-off switch is not functional. Verify any of these conditions by passing the safety thermostat then the belt cut-off switch if necessary.

Disconnect power and locate the safety thermostat (thermostat 1) on the blower housing. Disconnect the wires. and connect them together then insulate it properly. Reconnect power and start the dryer. The safety thermostat is indeed blown and needs to be replaced along with the thermistor if the dryer starts.

Bypass the belt cut-off switch keeping the safety thermostat bypassed if the dryer still doesn't start. Replace the belt cut-off switch if the dryer starts. Start the dryer with only the belt cut-off switch bypassed. Also replace the safety thermostat and the thermistor if the dryer stops working.

Just in case the dryer doesn't heat up, bypass both the high-limit thermostat and the thermal cut-off on the heater housing. Replace both the high-limit thermostat and the thermal cut-off if the dryer heats up. Do not use the dryer with any safety component bypassed due to fire hazards. Bypassing them is for troubleshooting purposes only.

Well you really don't have much option now do you. The Main circuit board, is most likely the culprit.

http://appliancedigest.com/index.php?/files/

Also to assist you i include a link above where you can download a service manual. This has all the info you need to troubleshoot and repair your Dryer.
That "Clicking"noise you hear is indeed the sound of an overloaded and faulty power supply,on a main board.
However you DO need to check ALL external sensors, to ensure that they aren't the culprit.

Welcome to FixYa!

If the display has a 65 and all you here is a click on the board that means that you have a short on the board.

You will need to replace the board to get the machine to work again.

Good Luck

The only other thing that just came to mind is that there is a short on the netural line. They are the white wires that run through the machine. You need to redo all the conections.

I have model # MDE6700AYW (Maytag Neptune electric dryer) Error code T5, service codes 0, 19 and 76. Can anyone tell me what part needs to be replaced?

Check to see if your thermistor is bad by measure the resistance. It should be 10K Ohms at room temperature.
If it's bad, replace it BUT you have to CLEAR to error code.
1. Enter to Service Mode by press CHIME and TEMPERATURE keys for 3 seconds or until 3 beeps are heard.
2. Access Diagnostic Codes by pressing WRINKLE PREVENT. A d will be displayed. Rotate the CYCLE SELECTOR KNOB in either direction to read it.
3. Press SENSOR DRY and TIME keys for 3 seconds to clear it.
4. Power OFF to exit Service Mode
5. Power ON
Here is a link to the part in case you need it.

Due to power outage now the Neptune dryer model MDE6700AYW does not work and goes into an error code of t5 and there are keys that need to he pressed in sequence to get this corrected, please let me know...

My book say's you have to be in service mode first.
turn the dryer on, then press chime and temperature keys at the same time for 3 seconds. The diagnostic codes can be accessed by then pressing the wrinkle prevent key. a "d' wil be displayed. you can then turn the knob to see all of the codes that are listed. To clear the codes, press the sensor dry level and time keypads together for 3 seconds while veiwing the list. This cleared all of my codes. Good luck.

65 inch clicking hitachi

The clicking your refereing to is your relay. The first component that voltage entires from the cord. from ther it goes to 2 rectifiers one for standbye voltages and one for the operating votages for the various operating circuits for the set. What is your model number? Alot of Hitachis have built in diagnosis . Try pushing the AVX &power button on the set and see if the light blinks a code. Let me know if it blinks, also provide your model number.
