Thanks for the prompt response. I have a tech friend, but have a follow up question. You mentioned "ICXXXX" and then there was a sentence break before the words "vertical chip". Is ICXXXX the name or number for the vertical chip I need to order, or can you give me the proper name or number, and an approximate cost to purchase this chip?

    Thanks

Hi,

This error means - 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source)

The vertical circuit has to be trouble shot by an experience technician, This can be tricky for a novice,, It can be a bad vertical chip, or its source which is the E-prom, a meter and a scope may be required for this repair, If a family or friend member has technical background i would say the easiest thing to do would be to change the vertical chip and this may solve the issue, ICXXXX
vertical out put, But with out skills this failure should be done by a tech, And repairs for this unit should be under 200.00 and is worth it.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

PPOwer Light comes on anfd goes off

It depends on what is wrong and you can narrow it down with the self check your set has.

If set has been unplugged--plug it in and turn it on--when green power light comes on and shortly after goes out----on the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at same time for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it for a total of five times.

2,2 is most common and most easy to fix.

Let me know what error code you find.

Tv automatically powers off by itself within seconds.

This model has a self check: with the set plugged in turn it on--green power light comes on and a few seconds later goes off.

On front of set press and hold BOTH the menu and input buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

Power light will blink a 2 digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

I turn on my set and the power light comes on for 2-3 seconds then the set turns off. What causes this to happen?

F power light comes on and a few seconds later goes off, do the self check this model has.

On front of set when this happens, press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

Watch the power light closely, it should blink a two digit error code like; 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and then repeat it several times.

Will not turn on after manually pressing on button power is connected

TWO QUESTIONS:

1.) DOES POWER LIGHT JUST BLINK?

2.) IF POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A SECOND OR TWO AND GOES OUT, do the self check this set has:

when light goes out press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time on the front of the set for at least five seconds and release both.

Power light in this case will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will help you.

Turns off immediately after turned on

Do the self check it should have: when shuts down and green light goes out: On the front of the set press and hold both input and menu buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both.

Power light on set should blink a two digit error code: like 2 blink,2 blink, pause and repeat it at least 5 times total.

Let me know what error code and I will tell you what it means.

Please do the self check this set has:

When the power light comes on and goes out press and hold both the MENU and Input (also called Device) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light will blink a two digit error code--for example--2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks.

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD “device”(or input) and “menu” buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM
