Question about Lexmark X4690 Wireless InkJet Printer

I have a Lexmark x4690 Everytime i try to print something, the printing status that is shown on my monitor says Printing Status: 34% And it shows 2 little pictures of cartridges next the it and they are both grey and there are question marks on them. I bought a new ink cartridge, but it didn't change it. And i know the printer still works because when i changed the cartridge is ran the test and printed out an alignment page for the configuration. I know the connection is fine because it says its connected to my computer. I even connected the computer and printer with a usb, and it still is not working.

SOURCE: Ink levels/streaky printing

remove the carts & using a wet paper towel, clean the nozzles on the carts to see if your getting any traces of ink. U can also go to the solution center & under maintainence u will fine an option Clean to fix horizontal. try this twice that should also clear any blocks then try this

  • Printer power OFF
  • Hold down the PAPER FEED button while powering the printer ON
  • Release button after powering printer ON
  • Test is continuous, so turn off when printing is complete
If the cart has any ink it will print 3 color lines & a blk line

Its possibly a driver problem, try uninstalling the printer and then installing it again. It should correct any communication problems, you need to also unplug the printer after you have uninstalled it.

if you scan directly on the printer, does it print correctly?

To align the cartridge from the control panel:

Please follow the steps given below:

1. Please Load a plain paper.
2. Press and hold the "Scan" button for three seconds.
3. An alignment page prints.
4. Place the alignment page onto the scanner glass.
5. Press the "Scan" button.
6. Once scanning is complete, the cartridge has been aligned for optimal print quality. Alignment must be complete before continuing with any print jobs.

SOURCE: changed ink cartridges cannot print alignment page, out of ink

You need to reset the ink level before the printer can print further, to do these please follow the following step:
1) Goto the Lexmark Solution Center application.
2) Press button Maintenance>Install a new print cartridge, follow the instruction on screen. U may then have your new full ink level. Note: u only can reset to full level, cannot customize the level by your own.
Then try again with printing alignment task.

Lexmark X4690 printing status stuck at 50%


It could be that the Print Spooler service on your computer has stopped. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:

1. On your computer, browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)

2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.

3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the print spooler service)

4. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.

When I print the status bar says ink ?? the cartrages are full and i am unsure why it will print an allignment but nothing else


Make sure the Lexmark services are running. Refer to this article in the Lexmark website: How to Check and Enable Services Utilized for Printer Communication with Inkjet Printers. Also found in the same window is the Print Spooler, make sure the service is running. Then try to print again.

You may need to uninstall the existing X4690 driver first before installing it's driver for Windows 7. Follow the instructions in this artricle on How to Uninstall Lexmark Printers. Once driver is uninstalled, reboot pc when prompted. Reinstall using the driver for Windows 7 from the Lexmark website at:

It will only print to 99% and stops please help


Hi. Here's one troubleshooting step I can give which is worth checking. There's not much detail on the problem you posted but I hope this will work. On your computer, go to Start Menu > go to Run or Search bar for Vista/Windows 7 > type services.msc then hit enter. It will open Services (Local) window. Scroll down and look for Print Spooler in the menu. Right click and choose Properties. It will pop up Print Spooler Properties (Local Computer) window. For the Startup type, make sure it's Automatic. For Service Status, make sure it's Started. Click ok to save the settings. Try printing again. Hope that resolves your problem. Good luck!

Lexmark z31 printer will not stop printing


Disconnect printer cable from PC. Power off printer and unplug power cord from outlet. Wait 15 seconds. Press the power button as if to turn on with unit still unplugged. Plug back into outlet and turn on printer.

Before reconnecting to PC, check the printer's queue status. Start, Control Panel, Printers. Select the printer by double clicking to open queue status. Select any remaining documents and choose cancel from document menu bar.

same problem. everytime i restarted my pc and deleted the printed files from control panel/printers/lexmark x5150.
