Question about Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook

1 Answer

I have an Asus EEE 1005HAB and the power connection works intermittantly- it needs to be "jiggled" and the cord in juat the right position to charge the battery. Otherwise it works great- I don't hear any funny noises and the adapter is a normal warm- not overheating. How can I tell if my problem is with the AC adapter or the connector? I hate to buy a replacement cord if the problem is the connection to the motherboard. Any suggestions?

Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? Ifnot then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on thebottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that isprinted on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's powersocket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position thisLED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a drysolder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

I have an ASUS Eee PC 1005HA. ASUS sent me a BIOS update yesterday and when it was done they asked me to reboot, which I did. The problem is, after the computer shut down the computer never rebooted. There is no power to the machine. I have called everyone to include ASUS and they have been no help. Anyone have any ideas. Plugs are good, took out the battery, etc...
Thanks

How to fix power jack on asus eee 1005hab notebook pc. the adapter is fine but the connection into the power jack on pc is very loose. won't get a connection.

Best bet would be to dismantle and make some sort of "Hamshack" connector, soldering if neccessary or even glueing the dam thing if the case is broken or damaged.
