You cannot rewire a 3 phase motor to a single phase 220.
You need a phase converter

Here is why.

1). You will need to rewire the stator windings from a set of 3 distinct windings to a set of two distinct windings with one winding bigger than the other. The smaller adjunct winding will be a starter winding which is cut in only during the start phase. The magnetic qualities of the housing and the rotor were designed proportionally to the windings that are in there now. Most likely, a rewire job will result in less horse power.

2). You now need to add a centrifugal cutout switch for the adjunct stator winding and hook up a big extra capacitor used to phase shift the single phase incoming power to yield a sort of two phase system. This is so you get a rotating magnetic field in the rotor which is needed to get the rotor started.

I have not even addressed such issues as shaded pole motors and all the other gimmicks needed by single phase motors.

You are heading in the wrong direction.

The way you make a 3 face electric motor in a ! face connection is simple, originally you will have 3 hot wires for you motor and each connects to 1 of the 3 feeding faces in 3 face system. now what you need to get is a defacer capacitor for the capacity of you motor, example for 5 HP or 7.5 HP. once you get you capacitor then you will connect the 220 single face in to 2 of the wires of you motor and the defacing capacitor from any of you 220 feed wires to the remaining face wire of you motor. to change rotation just swap any 2 wires of the 3 connecting to you motor. check the inter net to find the capacitor or contact Grainger or you local electric supplier. it works good I have several 3 face motors working with 220 single face. good luck

Three phase house wiring, i want diagram with electrical symbols

What kind of diagram are you looking for? Large business and warehouses have 3 Phase. I've not heard of a house. but let me know. Typically 110 comes out of one breaker and one neutral wire (and saftey ground is 3rd) 220 comes out of two hot leads and one neutral wire (single phase). 3 phase comes out of 3 hot leads and one neutral but is still 220 volt.

Need to know If I can change machine frome 220 3 phase to 480 3 phase Serial # 2664

Hello msc..... A transformer alone can not change single phase to three phase.
You need two things: A phase converter/VFD to convert your 220 single to 220 three phase. Then a step up transformer to boost the voltage from 220 to 440.....
Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Trying to wire a 220 volt furnace in a three phase breaker box

normally in three phase applications all three wires have a 120 volts each on them and normally the electrician will lable either by tape or put in the middle slot whats called a high delta leg which has a little more power going to it... if no tape then the two outside wires in the 3 phase pane can be connected to the furnace. just check across them at 3 phase panel prior to connecting to make sure your getting 220-242 volts hope this helps you out ...good luck

I have a WESTINGHOUSE WELDER type rs 250 that is wired for 440 volt and need to change to 220 volt.

HI:) If that is a 3 phase 440 volt and you want it to use 220 volt 1 Phase you will have to get a phase inverter to change it from a 3 phase to a single phase.

Can we wire with 220 single phase

It should be all set for 220 volts, a 3 phase timer would be twice that size if they make one. Little things don't run on 3 phase power. Are you just running the lights with it? If so, you don't even need the 220, just one side of it will do, make sure you have a wire to the clock motor, should already be there, check it out, Hope this helps.

Need to change oven from 440 3 phase to 220 single phase hobart cn90 oven

It can be done with a transformer, 480/ 240 single phase transformer to get the lower voltage. Then the oven will require some wiring changes to get all the elements and controls connected to two hot wires instead of three. The transformed will be sized to the wattage rating of the oven. This is a only basic description of what needs to take place.

For an 3 Tn unit- single phase- 220 V a.c and gfor

There should be a full load amps or rated load amps on each of these units on the rating or nameplate. The ampacity or fuse size and wire size, which I think that's what you are wanting to know . The fuse size would be full or rated load amps times 125% and the wire size depending on the length of the run, 50 feet or less, (15 amps 14 gauge wire), (20 amps 12 gauge), (30 amps 10 gauge), and (40 amps 8 gauge).
