At one time, removable lenses for SLR cameras screwed on and off. Later, a "bayonet" type connection made it much easier for the lens to be aligned properly and changed quickly. A quarter-turn and "click"...it was in place.

Depends on the camera make and type. If it is a DSLR, this usually means the pins that connect the lens to the body are not making correct contact. Try carefully cleaning and make sure lens is fully rotated into the bayonet. If a Canon camera, and this does not fix it, a repair can be very expensive...

Quantray mc auto zoom 70mm-210mm

Yes, if it is a K style bayonet, it will work - Pentax allows any K mounted lens to work with all their cameras from the K1000 from 1976 to the present... BUT - don't expect auto anything... including zoom or metering... but it should allow you to use it at least... Assuming the Lens is a K mounted lens... (you can't use it if it is a Nikon F or AI style, or Canon, or Minolta, which all use a bayonet style mount...)

Toyo 500mm lens to nikon d90 mount

At the risk of being obvious, you need a Nikon mount.

The lens comes with a T-mount. This is a "universal" mount with adapters for almost any camera mount, including the Nikon F mount. If the lens doesn't come with one, get a Nikon T-mount adapter.

The lens doesn't have any electronics, so you'll be shooting completely manual. No autofocus, no autoexposure, not even any exposure help from the camera's light meter.

As to whether you can replace it yourself, can you use a screwdriver and a soldering iron?

Pentax ES2; do bayonet lens fit digital Pentax SLR?

Any Pentax K-mount lens will fit any Pentax DSLR. The DSLR will fire the shutter.  There is a menu setting (RTFM) which allows the use of older lenses, but you will lose some of the automation (again RTFM). Remember to allow that the effective focal length when using a "film" lens on a DSLR body goes up by 50%.
A standard 50mm lens becomes a 75mm equivalent, but stays a large aperture.

Spare part for Nikon 18-55mm vr lens

Part # 1C999-601-2 was the number Nikon said the part was called. It was used to replace the broken bayonet mount unit as seen in this step-by-step repair:

Camera dropped an the lens broke off the camera

I have the same problem - the plastic bayonet lugs are the weak point on the lens assembly, but better that then breaking the camera body mating ring. I've dissasembled the rear of the lens and will try to reglue the two split lugs with cyanoacrylate glue. Be very careful not to mix up the 3 different types of screws, avoid damage to the multi-contact plate ribbon cable, and to not to loose the backfocus shims! Cheers.
