Question about Homedics SC-373 ProgressTracker Digital Scale, 400lb/180kg. Capacity

Open Question

What does a 0-Ld code appearing on the scale's screen mean? The scale isn't measuring right but you can navigate through past measurements, etc. And this code appears most of the time when you try to get a measurement. Thank you!

SOURCE: Body Fat Reading Changing Drastically

The fact of matter is those devices are inacurate for some reason more so on smaller females. But if you recently took a bath or drank water it will alter the results, they suggest taking it first thing before bath or eating in the morning at same time everyday to get a more acurate reading.

This may be getting personal but implants will also affect the reading making it totally useless for you to use. I have them and the electrical impedence devices read me much higher then what i am, a few minutes later will read me lower.

I would head down to your gym most of them will do a free body fat test with the calipers which is more acurate (as long as they know what they are doing).

SOURCE: Tanita Ultimate Scale 2001 - no user manual -how to set it?

does your scale have an orange SET button and a button with a triangle (or arrow) below the display?

Try this... make sure the scale is turned off. (and you are not standing on it)

Now press the SET button.
2 arrows should appear on the display. use the arrow/triangle key below the display to make changes and the SET key to choose.

If you have the same scale as me, you are prompted to chose Adult/Child followed by Male/Female, and finally input your height in feet/inches by pushing the arrow/triangle key until the display shows the desired height.

Press SET to finish and step on the scale like you usually do. It will now show your weight followed by your body fat %.

Hope this helps you!

How to measure the voltage on TV

Voltage measured on DC scale, black cable multitester / avometer put on a negative path or can be slipped on the silver wire in the tube that is not disposable wrapping.

Next, measure the voltages are available:
  • For 180v voltage can be measured on the positive pin elco (10uf/250v) in PCB RGB tube.stick pin red wire multitester
  • Voltage 110v for TVs 14 "-21" and 130v for 25 "-29" in the B + FlyBack Transformer (FBT), find the path there is elco 100uf/160volt. measure on a positive foot elco.
  • For 12volt voltage, please measure at the foot of the right edge of IC 7812.
  1. For voltage 5V, please measure the right foot of IC 7805.
  2. For voltage 33v, please search at the foot of VT in tuner.
  3. To measure 90v-300v, scale use DCV 250.
  4. To measure the 12v-40v, use a scale of 50 DCV
  5. To measure the voltage of 1V-9v, 10 DCV-scale use.
  6. How to measure the voltage on the yoke and in plyback is;
    • From the yoke horizontal = Fcc 110v DC, 1000 V. AC voltage can be removed with a red plug in output and in use as dB meter.
    • From the yoke pertikal 24 DC current model, except for disposable coupling C = 1 / 2 Fcc. While it could be IC 120V AC (with dB meter)
    • At Fcc FBT kolector; 110v DC, AC voltage = 1000 V..
    • At Fcc FBT filement / heater = 5V-5, 5V AC.
    • In the FBT 20-32k anode voltage V measured with 40kv HV probe is added to the multitester 1000 V. DC.
    • Voltage others depending on model and type of TV. 180v out there (for RGB) directly from the regulators, transformers, Video Amp taken from FBT.
    • There are 24V and 46v vertical FBT, also 12-18V depending on brand and type.
    • Voltage 600 V DC and focus around the screen 400v DC.

What 3 tools should I use to measure 5 grams of macaroni , 10 ml of milk and 3 cm of butter?

To measure the macaroni, you are measuring mass or weight, so you would need a scale.

To measure the milk, you are measuring volume, so you would need a measuring glass or a set of measuring spoons.

To measure the butter, you are measuring distance, so you would need a ruler.

I hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck.

SC-501 scale weight measures in Kilograms instead of centameters

Since centimeter is a measure of length, it would be difficult for any scale to measure weights in centimeters. It would be like asking a ruler to measure a length in kilograms.

It is a device used in measuring and sometimes drawing angles?based on trigonometry

Could you mean a sextant? I found other tools of measuring angles at a
distance before I reread your question and noticed it was under
science and astronomy. Most of the following tools are used to measure
angles of stars, planets and locations.

"A sextant is a measuring instrument used to measure the angle of
elevation of a celestial object above the horizon. Making this
measurement is known as sighting the object or taking a sight. The
angle, and the time when it was measured, are used to calculate a
position line on a nautical or aeronautical chart. A common use of the
sextant is to sight the sun at noon to find one's latitude. See
celestial navigation for more discussion.

The scale of a sextant has a length of 1/6 of a full circle; 60°,
hence the sextant's name. An octant is a similar device with a shorter
scale, 1/8 of a circle; 45°, which was in use until 1767 when it was
quickly replaced by the sextant. In 1767 the first edition of the
nautical almanac tabulated lunar distances, enabling navigators to
find the current time from the angle between the sun and the moon.
This angle is however sometimes larger than 90°, and thus not possible
to measure with an octant."

"Practical celestial navigation usually requires a chronometer to
measure time, a sextant to measure the angles, an almanac giving
angular schedules of celestial objects and a set of sight reduction
tables to help perform the math. With sight reduction tables, the only
math required is addition and subtraction. Most people can master the
procedure after a day or two of instruction and practice."

Froogle has many sextants and books for sale:

Using the sextant

An angle gauge?
"The gauge is used to tally trees in variable area plot sampling. The
variable plot method is generally faster than fixed area plot
sampling. The gauge usually has basal area per acre factors (BAF) of
5 to 40. The average diameter of the trees to be sampled is what
determines which BAF to use. The angle gauge comes in several shapes
and serves the same purpose as a cruising prism (see cruising prism
below). 2004 price range: $10-$33."

A clinometer?
"Optical Reading Clinometer
Model No. PM-5/360 PC
Measures:Altitude angle/Percent slope
Heavy-duty clinometer for measuring vertical angles. Clinometer has
two scales: angle in degrees above or below horizontally level or
percent slope. Sighting allows user to simultaneously view object and
read slope."

"Measuring with a Clinometer

A clinometer is a tool that can help you to measure the angular height
of the Moon more accurately than with your fists."

A protractor?
"Use tape to hinge two rulers together end to end at a 90
degree angle. Hold one ruler so that it points straight out
to the horizon and the other one points to the straight up
to the zenith. Tape a protractor to the rulers so that the
base is on the horizon line and the zenith line cuts the 90
degree mark.

To determine the altitude of the North Star where you live,
hold the rulers horizontally at eye level. Look at the North
Star and move the ruler to point at it.

The number of degrees or altitude of the North Star can be
read on the protractor."

A transit?
"These units are for the serious builder or contractor who requires
greater accuracy. These instruments are designed with a heavy-duty
dome shaped head that holds a double ball bearing center, giving the
user 5 minute readouts. Model 300B has a 1° vertical arc and two
leveling vials. Units use a 3-1/2 x 8 thread."

"Set up for the class five angle measuring exercises. Get each
participant to measure each angle. Rule out any clearly wrong
measurments; average the remainder. Now score each participant on how
little his/ her readings vary from the class's average.

An alternative test for your transit is to go to a large field. Along
one edge, mark perhaps 5 locations all in a straight line, perhaps 50
feet apart. (Use a longer distance if you can measure it accurately,
and space allows. (You can see they are in line by looking along it!)
About 150 feet from the baseline, at a point perpendicular to it's
middle, stick a pole in the ground. (The location does not have to be
precise.) Now measure angles between the baseline and the pole at each
of your locations. Next, prepare a map of what you have measured.
Start by drawing a line on a piece of paper. Mark 5 evenly spaced
points along it. Draw the angles you recorded. The lines going away
from the baseline should all met at one point if your readings are

Remember: Any measuring device must be able to return the same reading
every time it measures the same angle, weight, length, etc. It must
give the answer in usable units.

With the transit, a major element in achieving success will be your
skill in devising something that will allow you to point directly at
the distant objects which define the direction of the two arms of the

How you read off how far around your pointer has swung will be another
critical area."

I just purchased a Healthometer Weight & Body Fat Monitoring Scale. I successfully setting up my scale, I think? When I turn the scale on and weight for the 0.0 to appear, I get on the scale and it...

These scales use sensors to measure the electrical resistance of the human body to calculate body fat. If you are not stepping on the scale barefoot then that might be the reason why it is timing out. These scales require you to step on it barefoot so it can take a measurement through your feet. And using the height and gender information in combonation with the resistance measurement it can calculate your approximate body fat precentage. If you are stepping on the scale barefoot then make sure that your feet are properly placed into the sensors and avoid any movement. Let me know if you have any questions.

BF% is wrong

Unfortunately, it's the scale, but it's not broken. It simply is telling you inaccurate information.
Some scales utilize Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology. BIA uses very low levels of electrical impulses running from one metal contact point/lead to another. Your body acts as the connector between the two contact points, thus completing the circuit. Not all scales use this means for calculating body fat percentage due to poor reliability and high fabrication costs. This method of measurement requires very large contact points, as well as clean and moist skin exposure. If you have dry/calluced feet, which is normal for most Americans, the sensors can not accurately measure due to skin resistance. Dry skin acts as a resistor to electrical impulse. Electricity passes through muscle and fat at different rates. However, its measurements may be thrown off by how hydrated you are and how much you've eaten; it may be too inaccurate for anything other than comparative use. Users are encouraged to establish a baseline measurement and repeat measurements under consistent conditions over time to detect changes.
Many less expensive models simply use a body-fat calculator to average your imputed height in inches, waist measurement in inches and the current weight measurement recorded in lbs. The scale compares your measurement with the ideal norms inputed during the manufactoring process, thus giving you a comparison vs.imputed norms. People who are very, very fit can get numbers 3 to 5 percent higher than their true percent body fat. Because they don't have a lot of fat inside their muscles(visceral fat), the simple tape measure calculation test cannot adjust as it should indicate.
Conversely, if a person is skinny but not fit, this body fat test may yield a number 3 to 5 percent lower than his or her true percent body fat. Though they look thin, unfit skinny people really have more than the usual amount of fat inside their muscles, which you can't see from the outside.
In either case, the scale is not necessary a measurement tool, due to high variables of test inaccuracy and interuser reliabilty; but, it is a good tool for comparing whether or not you are gaining/losing body fat.
If you would like a more accurate tool for simply measuring your body fat, you can pick up some pinch-calipers online for about the price of a scale. They come with an instructional pamphlet, very easy to use.
