Minicom DX 432 4-port KVM Switch

Minicom is sloooooooowwww

By Cornish - usenet poster

Ok, my minicom is sooo slow. I type in a command it takes a few seconds to
respond. It is so slow connecting to my server that I time out before I can
type in my username and password. Any idea what is going on? Thanks.
Mark

Try to play with the BIOS .. to resolve irq conflict

if your modem set to com 3 and IRQ 5
the type in

$ setserial /dev/ttyS2 irq 5

do the same to reflect your modem setting

this should work ....

Sounds like you have an IRQ conflict.

Take a look with :

You have an IRQ conflict. Pick a different IRQ. I guarantee you this is the
problem.

i'd try to figure out the speed settings between comm and modem device,
which means speed settings of serial port.

That has my vote also :-).  Had the same problem a while back and the 4
port serial card I was using was in conflict with a soundblaster.
Pulled the soundblaster (Plug-n-Pray) and all was well.

I had the same problem .... I fixed it by changing my IRQ settings. Basically,
my internal modem creates a COM port which was conflicting with the address of
another port. All I had to do was simply change the conflicting port address and
*PRESTO* faster response from modem.
