Tv won't start; lamp sign on power switch comes and goes; makes sound as if it is trying to start

I changed out the lamp as I have in the past when the lamp & timer light blink. This time the tv would not start back up. lamp & timer light continued to blink so I removed the lamp and checked all connections. Still blinking. Purchased another new lamp to troubleshoot previously installed new lamp. This time tv would not respond via remote only manually by button on set. Now timer is blinking and set is making a whirriering sound, clicks off then starts blinking and whirring again. TV is now unplugged.

FYI:During power up with both new lamps I tried the "mute+1+2+8+power" rest code thing. I unpluged then plugged back in and tried holding down the power button for 10 seconds to force overide as suggested in one blog I read.

It is either a power supply problem or the supply trying to protect itself from a failure elsewhere.
This limiting action also can prevent an unwanted fire from overheating.
You will require service to restore your set.

This sounds like a lazy lamp--that is getting hard to start. Try a new lamp first. If you are inclined to do so--get a bard bulb and install in the old lamp housing and save some money. Get a real PHILLIPS bulb--it will last a while--compared to cheap generics that are good for maybe 6 months !!

I've tried to reset the lamp timer and my tv still wont work. What else can i try?

Have you tried replacing the lamp? If not, I would start there. Also, after replacing the lamp, make sure that the lamp door gets put back on or it will not come on. There is a safety switch that won't allow the tv to come on when that door is off. If you have already replaced the lamp w/ a new one and you are getting the same problem, then the problem could either be on the lamp ballast, or power supply board. Some tests would have to be made by a tech to determine exactly where the problem is. It sure does sound like a bad lamp though.

First check if you had tighten all screws after replacing the lamp as it may cause loose connection and also the lamp panel is securly in place or the micro switch may be the trouble maker. You need to have some one switch the tv for you while you are looking into the set from the air vents closed to the lamp without opening any panel. Make sure you plugout and in the tv to power source with every attempt. See www.fixurtvs.com See if the lamp comes on for a second or two and goes off.or never comes on. If while switching on the lamp comes on and goes off quickly when seen though the back cooling vents and there is no momentary whining sound you have a color failure. If the lamp is not coming on at all check again on lamp specification/part # and your installation and if every thing is okay, exchange it from the seller and try new one. Most sellers like www.fixurtvs.com will have a respectable no questions asked warranty, Hope your problem is resolved quickly.

Sounds like a bad color wheel. Generally when the color wheel goes bad, when you try and turn the TV on the lamp will ignite for a couple seconds and then turn off. It also makes a rather high pitch squealing noise.

www.Partstore.com should carry a replacement color wheel for your TV

Chances are that the Interlock Safety Switch is not properly set. Remove the Lamp Door and then reinstall the door and tighten the screw. This will reset the Switch. If that does not fix the problem make sure that the Lamp is correctly seated. Beyond that you will need a trained samsung tech troubleshoot the set because it can be a bad Lamp Ballast,DMD bd,Main bd,Color Wheel. Also make sure you have the correct lamp. There is a Lamp Code sticker on the left side of the set. Match the code from the tv to the new lamp you purchased.

Mitsubishi WD 62327

Yes this is the signal for a bad lamp. Other things can cause this. 1. Look at the new lamp. make sure it still looks good. not broken with little glass pieaces in it. 2. When you turn on the tv, put your ear to the lower back part of the tv near the middle. Listen for the start up of the color wheel (a low high pitch sound only at the start up of the motor). If this is good you will here a ticking sound only if the lamp dose not light.

Now with all this info. If the lamp lights (as seen from the back of the set) and goes out after a few seconds and you did not here the color wheel spin up, the color wheel is bad.

If you here the color wheel spin up and no ticking sound, the Ballast is bad.

The ballast part no. 939P978010

The color wheel is not avialable from Mits. You will have to replaced the light engine. It cost to much. Just buy a new tv.

My best gess is the Ballast.

TV doesn't turn on

You really should give make & model number when posting, it helps us immensely, your lamp and possibly the ballast is bad, start with a new lamp first, odds are very good that it will fix your problem, can`t help more without manufacturer and model number, good luck, ps, order the original lamp, generics are junk and a waste of your money.

HLP, HCN HL-S The Start-up Problem or/and
3 LEDs in the front blinking.

Unplug the set, pull out the lamp module (not all the way - leave it on the track) and push it back in.

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.
