Question about Inter-Tel Encore Phone

Intertel Encore CX - phones will not initialize and cannot connect via MPS software

Hello,
I'm looking for help with the above system.
Installation and maintenance manual indicates that on power up the power LED should be solid and the vital activity LED be flashing.

Unfortunately for us no vital activity light.
Hmm ..... where do we start?

    My phone system had the same problem. No vital activity LED and only a very dim power LED. Followed rocket99's solution and got very close. Changed all 4 capacitors on the main board and even found an identical one blown on the power supply board which was changed also. Now I have a solid (and bright) power led, but the vital activity LED will stay on solid for several seconds, turn off for several. It will then come back on for several seconds, then turn off, followed by two flashes of the very bottom DSP LED. Then the cycle repeats. The power LED stays on the entire time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are 3 capacitors on the the mother board that blow. You need to completely disassemble the unit down to the main board. The main board in held in place by 3 screws, then needs to slide to the left to free it from the case. Carefully pry it to the left using a flat blade screwdriver.

The capacitors are underrated for this board, and I use a capacitor with a higher voltage rating to replace them. You can get these from Radio Shack, P/N 272-1030, 470uF 35V.

The ones that usually blow are the 3 on the bottom left of the main board. They are in a vertical row, and you can see that the top of the capacitors "puff" and have a little dome on top of the capacitor.

Replace the capacitors, and reassemble. The 35V rated ones are just a little bigger and you may not be able to push them down to the board all the way, but no worries, it will fix your problem. We are a dealer for this product and found that every one that we install, failed with the same problem.

I should mention that there is another capacitor just to the right of these 3 that may also fail. Again, look for the top of the capacitor. If it is not perfectly flat, change it.

You don't need software to change it, only the manual. In the opening pages are the instructions to default the system and erase all the messages. If you have lost the oringinal notes, $120 isn't all that out of line for a dealer to break into the system and map out the custom service menus.. It's more that I would charge, but I'm not there.

Anyway, a 7731 is just a phone. It connects to a Panasonic system and the voice mail system is either part of the system or a seperate box. If it's a TVS, you access it via the serial connector and Hyperterm. If it's a TVA (black and blue box) you access it via the USB, serial, or LAN port.

It's initialized by the rotary switch or the dip switches on the box.

Back door password for Inter-tel axxess phone system


it only accepts 8 digits so please try the first 8 digits of the password that the tech used.

Admin changes on encore cx


You can actually do the system programing thru the phone itself, press the prog button above the display on the phone & go to system programing, you'll need the system admin code (try 1111).
Alternatively you can install a programing applicatrion on your pc & connect to the async port on the main control unit. The program applicaion would have been delivered with the system docs.

Speaker phone indicator will not go off


Liooks like you have the phone programmed to "Handsfree answerback" this will cause the handsfree light to flash continiously.
In this mode the phone will auto answer any internal call from another extension.... so watch out.
To switch this mode off press the program button above the displey & you be given th option to switch "Auto Answer off " I think it's the first option, try it.

Intertel GLX phone rings busy unless unplugged


You could have a bad phone try to swap it with a working one. If that does not work there could be a problem with the port in the system or cabling. Move to a new port or new cable

Line could be dead from local provider (Verizon,etc.).Could be a bad port on the phone system. Maybe a bad connection into phone system. What Intertel system do you have?

Intertel phone system died


Look for power on the InterTel system, any kind of lights on the system is an indication you at least have power to the system. If you are plugged into a power strip and have no lights, remove the power cord from the strip and plug it directly into an AC outlet. Be sure to turn off the system before plugging it into a wall outlet, and then turn the system back on. Good Luck

CSU won't boot up


Problem is on its way to being solved. We called our vendor who contacted Intertel. Intertel is looking into problem. They have seen it before and are going to exchange the unit under warranty. Thanks for your response. Scott.

Interel voice mail rings


In System Timers change the System Forward Initiate timer. Be cautious that this is a system wide timer and will affect all users. If you want it done just on one phone it gets a little bit more complicated but it is still possible.

Change Time and Names


On your Intertel Encore system you can program from a phone at extension 20. Intertel does not allow the sale of the manual to end-users (you) only Intertel dealers have access. I can help with the time change: From EXT 20 press the PROGRAM key, use the arrow keys to scroll until "System Programming" is displayed. It will ask for the password. The default is 1111, if it's been changed you may be in trouble... You would then select "System" then Select "Time and Date" - change the time (24 hour format) and date (MMDDYY) then hit the SPEAKER button to complete programming. I hope this helps. I have not done this myself, just passing on the instructions.
