Question about Nikon BUCKMASTERS 3-9X40 RIFLESCOPE MATTE

2 Answers

Hi, I am going to purchase a # 8411 Nikon monarch 2.5-10-42 rifle scope. I intend to mount it on a Colt AR 15. They tell me that I can mount this scope on the carry handle. I have always mounted as cloes to the barrel as I could. Am I wrong? Would it make any difference in accuracy? Thanks!

I think you will very unhappy if you mount it on the carry handle. I suggest removing it and getting a Nikon M-223 mount, YOu might also want to check out the M-223 line of scopes. The 3-12x42 with Rapid Action Turret might really surprise you. I don't have one freind who hasn't tried mine out and not bought one. Hard to argue with that. I mounted my scope and green laser on the carry handle and I like it a lot. I had to do a lot of adjusting but it worked out well. I have steel sights so, I found a rail to mount on top of the carry handle with a peek through so I can use the iron sights, The scope is dialed in to 200 yards and the laser is for close range out to 100 yards. Good luck.

How to use redfieeld 3x9x42 scope

Depends on the scope and rifle type to which it is attached.
I invested in an inexpensive laser bore such as this one for an AR: SightMark AccuDot Laser Bore Sight - 223 Model SM39001 (for AR-15)
Once the scope is mounted properly, and assuming you have not made any vertical or horizontal adjustments, set the rifle on a stable platform, insert the bore sight, point it at a target 50 (rimfire) to 100 (AR) yards out (works best in low light situation).
Once you have the laser centered on your target, make elevation and windage adjustments as necessary placing the scope cross hairs over the laser. Remove the bore sight and fire 3 rounds, then fine tune elevation and windage.

Very blury above 10 x no mater how i ajust it and hard to veiw target nikon 8426 6- 24x50 bdc brand new

If you are trying to focus at a relatively close distance, you may be overpowering the scopes ability to focus at that distance. Most rifle scopes are set to parralax free at 100 yards. You can see this effect by putting the scope on its lowest power, focusing at 25-50 yards, and then increasing the power setting. You will see the image go out of focus as the power increases. This simply means that you must shoot at longer distances in order to use the scope to its full potential.

The other problem may be your parallax adjustment, but you may have already tried that solution. If not, make sure that the adjustment dial is set at the distance you are trying to shoot (minor adjustment from the indicated setting may be required to fine tune the image).

New nikon monarch III 4-16x42bdc. elevation is mased at lowest set still bore sighting at 2.25 above 0 with windage centered. actual shot is off target.

have you shot it yet???? dont forget bullet drop!!!! but if it shoots to hight thats easy to put right,,,most of the time its a mount fault, but undo the front of the scope mount and slid 3 bits of 35mm film under the scope then nip the scope down on the film strips,,this will lift the point of aim past what you need,,,,

Buy riflescope!!!! Which one????

Robert, I have the Simmons 6-21x44 MilDot # 511056 scope on my Savage model 10FCP Law Enforcement issue rifle. I think you should check it out. It has 90 MOA internal adjustment and you could get you something like a 15 MOA or 20 MOA tactical rail and push your adjustments out to 1000 meters!!!

it sounds like the cross hairs are moving i had this problem and it was the sight not the rifle check that the mounts are secure usually one of them will slip out or the guide if it is secure then it is the scope thats the problem return it if u can if u cant it can be repaired but this can be expensive and you cant do it yourself cus it has to be recalibrated sorry i couldnt be any more help it is usually the shock that moves the cross hairs take it to a shop and they will try it for you and tell you what is wrong also check that the screws holding the rifle together are secure because it happened to me once that one of the screws had broke and was allowing the rifle to move slightly so when i lined the scope up and fired it moved and then it put the sight out try this but a rifle shop should test it for free and tell you what is wrong they will put it in a vice and fire it so then they no the gun is in the same place when fired then they will no wether it is the gun or the sight but i would say it is the sight but before you buy another check all the screws are ok and none missing hope this is some help.....................
