I got the same message, repeatedly until i turned the paper around on the glass. I had it it wrong end up! I dont know if this will help but it took me 4 trys to figure it out.
I was trained by HP to fully support Officejets and AiO, Compaqs and Pavilion Desktops and HP Notebooks, oldest to the newest.

Pressed ok more than once to start alignment??
Have you worked through this page already? And you tried the "Bypassing the print cartridge alignment" solution? See HP's solution here. Make sure you don't have photo paper or colored paper in the input tray when aligning...
When you perform the reset, did you unplug the data cable (usb) as well as the power, and wait a few minutes? Try leaving both data and power cables unplugged for 1/2 hour and then resetting, and make sure you complete the power cycle by pressing start copy color. Link here.
If none of these steps work, try removing and reinstalling the cartridges, and if that doesn't help, here's a last ditch fix that may work in your case.
Otherwise, I'm afraid service is the answer...

printer problem call up hp at 1-800-474-6836 and ask them for an upgraded printer which you will get at 50-60% cheaper than the original and its a factory new printer.But it is definitly not free.
What you have right now is a hardware problem and the printer is dying so change it fast while this offer is available

I have refilled ink in my cartridge but when i try to print nothing comes out i.e it gives faint copies


Ink is full but nib is faulty will pen writes? similarly cartridge refilled with ink but nozzles are clogged/blocked then print wont happen properly..before refilling the cartridge check nozzle status, clean nozzles properly then refill it. Remedy1:Take little warm water pour in small container dip nozzles in water wait some 2-3 minutes clean nozzle area with dry smooth cloth...try it till print quality improves..Remedy2: You can do clan/align process through printer drivers properties..

Check if the alignment page has been printed correctly i mean the bars printed with a little yellow color around it right?

Okay what you can do is do a reset first. Follow the below things

1. When the printer is on remove the power directly from the back of the printer.
2. hold # and 9 key and connect the power
3. Printer will show you on the screen it is resetting the NVRAM then release the buttons

The printer will print alignment page again this time try to scan and it should work.

Hi, Wonder can you help my printer keeps printing off test page everytime it is turned on. this is only happening since i changed the cartridge, never did this before. thanks


Hi,

Your printer is printing alignment pages, because the cartridge alignment was not completed since you replaced them. Follow the below steps to complete alignment.

  1. Turn the printer OFF and then turn back ON.
  2. Wait until the alignment sheet prints out fully.
  3. Place the alignment test page over the scanner glass.
  4. Press start color scan button.
  5. The printer "power" light will start flashing, indication the alignment process.
  6. After the printer stops flashing, turn off and then ON the printer.It will not print any test pages further.
We need to run alignment test every-time while we replace ink cartridges.

When start the printer it print 3 times the head printer alignment before do anything


Hi,

There are mainly 2 reasons why this happens.

1. If the cartridges or one of the cartridge is running low on ink
2. Once the alignment sheet is printed and if it is wrongly placed for alignment or wrong alignment selected.

Disconnect the power cord from back of printer, wait for 10 seconds and connect it back.

HP C6180 won't align print cartridges


hi Alignment of ink cartridges is very essential for the for the printer to print so first of all be sure that you are using geniun ink cartridges now lets try a reset on your printer press the # and 3 button on your printer together and then unplug the power cord from your printer and keep pressing the buttons now wait for 5 sec and while pressing # and 3 replug the power cord wait for the printer to initialize and see if it prints alignment page if no page is printed then click on the start button of the computer and then go to printers and faxes and then right ckick on the icon of your printer and click on printing preferences now go to the features tab and click on the button that says align print cartridges wait for the alignment page to print and now try and see if it prints fine

Does the machine ask you to "align" the print cartridges when you turn the machine back on? If the alignment page when finished printing is missing a key color (say yellow), then the alignment will not succeed.
