Question about Biostar M7VIG400 Motherboard

1 Answer

I accidentally disconnected the front panel connectors - JPANEL1. I am not sure or cannot see where the PWR LED connectors are positive or negative on the board (i.e.- page 11 of manual - which side should positive or negative pwr led cords go - left or right on row 2 of the panel)

Installed mother to new tower case and pwr sw | hd led | reset | power led connecting to my board is the Intel dq67sw 155 matx motherboard need accurate dir to connect these please help

info found at http://downloadmirror.intel.com/19707/eng/DQ67SW_ProductGuide01_English.pdf
Front Panel Header Pin info for DQ67SW. They should be color coded too. 1 Hard disk LED + orange
2 Power LED+ green
3 Hard disk LED - orange
4 Power LED- green 5 Reset Switch - blue
6 Power switch + red
7 Reset switch + blue 8 Power switch - red
9 Power Out (do not use)
10 No pin
NOTE When connecting individual wires from your chassis front panel to the front panel header, be sure to observe the connection polarity. Positive wires are usually solid color and negative wires are usually white or striped.
There is also an alternative pin header if you have a power wire that uses a 3 pin connector instead of a 2 pin connector. It is the 3 pins just past pin 9, and it should be missing the pin in the middle of the 3 pin block. The pin closest to pin 9 is the power led + and the furthest from pin 9 is the power led -.
if you need clarification, check out page 50 of the manual posted above at intel.com

I am having a problem connecting my power supply to my motherboard i can plug in everything except the one connectors that require a connection to a part called PWR-LED

Take a look at the picture below:
6b13a3a.jpg

If I am right, the Front Panel connector should look similar as shown above (it's an assumption since you didn't mention the Motherboard's name and version). Look at the front panel connector on the motherboard carefully, you'll see similar name/indicator as you are seeing on the above picture like Pled, Hdled etc... I hope the front panel connector has 9 pins, and remember, one should be left without any connection.

Simply you have to connect the two female Pwr-Led to the Pled+ and Pled-, and Power to Pwr and Gnd, the same sequence with hard disk led and Reset switch as Hdled+ and Hdled- and Gnd and Reset respectively.
If the front panel connectors on your motherboard has less than 9 pins, then I am sorry, I have no idea about it and I am afraid if it exists or not.

If you still have the problem, let me know.

Good luck.

I have 3 wires on my pc and i dont know where to connect them on my motherbaord - the wires have writen on them "HDD LED" "PWR LED" "PWR S/W" can any1 help me?

Hi Dan,
The wires are from the front panel. HDD LED which causes an led (usually red) light to turn on when the Hard Drive is active. The PWR LED turns on an LED light (usually green) when you turn on your computer. The PWR S/W turns on your computer when you press the on button of your computer. The front panel connector riser is usually located on the bottom right of your computer. They fit on little pins. Unfortunately there is no standard, so connections vary. Sometimes the pins are labeled on the motherboard. . Check your manual. For more info do a google search for "Motherboard front panel connectors". Hank

TRYING TO HOOK UP MU POWER BUTTON NEED TO KNOW

Hi there
The front panel connectors are mainly,
  • harddisk activity connector
  • power switch connector
  • reset switch connector
  • power LED connector
  • speakers connector
  • USB connector
Harddisk activity connector
This normally comes red in colour and is labeled as HDD-LED
Power switch connector
This comes green in colour and is labeled as POWER-SW
Reset switch connector
This usually comes grey in colour and is labeled as RST-SW
Power LED connector
This is usually green in colour and is labled as PWR-LED
Speakers connector
This speaker will give different beep sounds during boot to tell the user if there is any errors. It occupies 4 pins, however only 2 is important for the function. Be sure to connect the red coloured cable to the positive polarity and the black to the negative.

Need manual for MSNV-939 MB

Hi hickoryhi138,
The motherboard your referring to is made by Mach Speed.
Click on the link provided & scroll to the bottom of the link to download the manual; http://www.machspeed.com/specs/MSNVspecs.pdf
Drivers are also listed on the link.
For the manual (Only), click on the next link; http://www.machspeed.com/manuals/MSNV-939manual.pdf
Go to page 19, Header for Front Panel Facilities: JPANEL1
Knowing what wire color is positive & which is negative varies from case to case. Check the group of front panel wires. Most likely one wire from each 2-pin connector will share the same color. Like the color white which is common for ground/negative. Other colors, blue, green & red are commonly positive. The only exception is the speaker wires. Mach speed only uses two wires across four pins. Black is most common for ground & red is for positive.

Good luck hickoryhi138!

Connecting front panel wiring to INTEL 845GRG Motherboard

Hello davideiker1, the Intel D845GRG MB manual is shared with another Intel board. (D845GBV MB). Go to this Intel site & download the D845GRG manual; http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845grg/sb/cs-008873.htm You'll need Adobe reader to view the manual. Download Adobe from this link; http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
See page 9 for motherboard layout.
The front panel connectors are shown on page 68, see item C.
On page 69 is, Table 31 shows the pin assignments for the front panel header. Front Panel Header (J9G1).
Pin 1 is power for the hard disk drive led, pin-3 is negative for the hard disk drive. Wire colors coming from the case are important. Look at all of the front case wires. The common color for each 2-pin connector will be ground. In most cases the ground wire is white, except for the internal speaker. Ground for the speaker is normally black. (This motherboards speaker is built into the MB, no hook up is needed).
Pin number 2 is positive for the case power led which lights up as green. Pin 4 is negative for the power led.
The reset switch is a bit different. Pin 5 is negative & pin 9 is positive, however if your case uses a two pin connector than connect pin 7 as ground & pin 9 for positive. The On/Off switch, pin 6 is positive & pin 8 is negative.
If this manual is not what you see on the MB, please advise.

Good luck davideiker1!

New motherboard

You don't say what case you are using. If it is proprietary and the front panel header is all in one connector, you can carefully back the connector pins out of the block using precision screwdrivers. I keep a bunch of two pin connectors from junked machines so I can create individual connector sets when changing motherboards (eg, PWR SW, PWR LED, HDD LED and RESET). This also requires that you know the pinouts of both the old board and the new one so you can get everything connected properly.

Very doubtful you will ever find an adapter to change from one front panel block to another.

The 9-pin connector probably uses a spacer pin between the legs of the PWR LED, while it seems the 6-pin does not have RESET.

Hi,

Generaly, the little connectors on the printed side will face the bottom of the case. Also, typically, Black is negative, and white/colour is positive (except on the power sw, it doesn't matter). On the motherboard, where the connectors go, there should be some kind of print saying where to plug them in. (IE, POWER SW, would go into PWR, and HDD LED would go into HDLED and POWER LED would go into PWRLED).

b0dcbba.jpg
It may look different than this, but generally the same kind of layout, as you can see, it shows the positions, as well as positive and negative.

The fact that the fans are running indicates that your power Sw is connected properly.. Make sure that you didn't accidently pull out/loosen anothe connection to the motherboard/harddrive.
