Have you looked at your manual? On page 31 it tells you how to do all of the stitches. If, you do not have a copy of your manual, go to www.singerco.com and download a free one under the customer support tab.

What is the proper quilting stitch for FMQ

Straight stitch. Doesn't matter what stitch length you set. The stitch length is determined by how fast or slow you move the fabric in conjunction with the sewing speed of the machine. FMQ means that you manually move the fabric, so the feed dogs are disabled and a darning or FMQ presser foot is installed on the machine. The darning or FMQ presser feet have shorter shafts than other feet, which allows space for you to manipulate the fabric.

In order to run a straight stitch, what numbers will I need in the boxes? Thanks. Di

Stitch width needs to be set to zero and NO decorative stitches selected. Stitch length will simply control the space between one stitch to the next.

Sewing outdoor polyester ( denier) medium weight with outdoor polyester thread. bottom stitch is not straight? evenly spaced but irregular in alignment. Help?

increase the needle thread tension
the bottom stitch is a direct result of the needle movement pulling the bobbin thread up to the hole so for the bottom stitch to be irregular , so is the top stitch

Stitch width knob

What's the model? Do you have the stitch selector set on straight stitch, or on a stitch with a width component, like a blind hem stitch?
Some machines consider straight stitch to be a zigzag stitch of width=0, while others have separate settings for a straight stitch and a zigzag (or other) stitch.

How do I change the position of the needle (right/left) on my Janie 6019 QC sewing machine?

You may only be able to adjust this one or two spaces. When you have the straight stitch selected, try moving you stitch width slide wider. If you needle is in the correct position, you should see it move as you slide the lever.

Why straight stitch will not work but zigzag and herringbone stitches work on my machine.

it sounds like the machine needs to be checked at a sewing
machine shop to see what's wrong with the cam's or gear
that makes the stitches

How do I make a "space" in between the lettering. How do I enlarge to do stippling.

with the lettering mode, there should be a code number you program in for each letter, number and for a space as well.

Stippling is usually done by free motion stitching with a special foot so its not actually a stitch pattern, just a straight stitch that you form into the stippled pattern by moving the item as it is stitched.

Can't get a neat straight and stretch stitch underneath

Sounds like a bottom tension problem, to be sure I would have to have a look, I would suggest you have it looked at. Not sure about the materials you are sewing and have serious doubts as to whether the machine you are using is up for the job and will give you a satisfactory finish. It is possible a "walking foot" machine is what you need.
