Belkin N router keeps disconnecting after 20 minutes. I have updated the firmware and have also restarted the router. When I hook the wired connection for my xbox directly to the modem, it works perfectly. How can I fix this?

Try setting the router to another channel, like 11. Default channel settings often conflict with cordless phone channels, yours or your neighbors.

Hi,

Like all other hardware devices connected to your PC, even Belkin router connected to the system requires drivers to function. Drivers are the link between the routers and the Operating System and problems with the drivers can cause connection to break. All Belkin router users having the router disconnecting automatically issue are suggested to check the router drivers installed on the system using the device manager. If the drivers are found incorrect/illegitimate or outdated, they would have to be replaced to solve the issues and get the router working properly.

1. Try resetting the router. You will have to set it back up after.
2. Update any firmware - go to Belkin's site, or there may be an option in the router's control page/application to check for and apply any updates.
3. The router itself may just be going bad and need replacing. It happens after a while.

Router must be restarted every 10 to 15 minuts to work and it works after that after 15 or 20 minuts internet is not working so i have to restarted again

Hello,

There are many reasons why this might be happening.. You could try the following steps..

1) Disconnect the power from router for a minute and reconnect and check.
2) Try changing the wireless channel and Network name and try re-connecting.
3) Check if there is an firmware update for your product and update if any update is available. You can check this by visiting http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/product/list/q/routers/ and enter your product details.
4) If none of the above steps work you will need to reset and re-config your router. ( For that you need the CD given with the router and you will need the ISP settings.)

Hope this helped

Hi ,

I got your issue, Since your router keeps dropping the connection , the best fix is to update the firmware on the router. Here is the link,

http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/306/session/L3NpZC9DRXppQW1maw%3D%3D/kw/f5d8236/r_id/166/sno/1

You have 4 different firmware version, select the appropriate version for Eg: If your version number of the router is ver:3000 then download v 3xxx and update the firmware on the router , that it will fix your issue.

With Regards,
Prema.

My internet keeps crashing and when I call my ISP they tell me that it is because I use a wireless router. Usually, I can fix the problem myself by turning the power off to the modem and restarting. Today,...

it could be the cable. Alternatively,I would suggest to check on the belkin' site if there are any updated firmwares for this router. If yes, try updating the firmware. that might help. If nohting else does, you might have a broken router.
Thanks Ranjit

Belkin router firmware malfunction

It is recommended to perform a hard reset after updating the firmware of the router. I guess you haven't done it that's why your connection keeps dropping. To hard reset the router, press the reset button at the back of the router for 20 seconds then unplug the power for 30 seconds and plug it back in.
