Question about Nordic Track NordicTrack Treadmill, A2550

1 Answer

The belt of my treadmill is coming off track and has cut into the plastic on the bottom R of the treadmill (if you are standing on treadmill). I can pull it back to center, but then as the belt runs, it tracks to the R. How can I fix this?

Thanks! I loosened both, brought the belt to center, tightened both (the R side was looser than the L), and it's fixed!

Hi stewarvm,

you either have a loose belt or possibly a bad bearing.

grab each roller (front and back of treadmill) and try and shake it up and down and front to back to
to make sure the bearings are ok...if they move a lot, then you probably have a bad bearing...if theres no movement, or very litte, they should be ok

now make sure the belts ok by looking at it and determining if one side is looser then the other (the right side should appear or feel looser) then tighten the right adjusting bolt till the belt tracks in the center. the adjuster is at the rear, one on each side of the rear roller.

HERE is a video and instructions of how to track your belt.

its pretty easy to fix and should only take a few minutes to get it right with a little trial an error if you never did it before.

let me know if you need further help.

i wanted to mention, there is a possibility that the belt is stretched on the right side, and if it is, you will either, have to buy a new belt or adjust the roller till the belt tracks. depending how bad it is streched (if it is) then there might not even be enough room to bring the rollers back the tight the belt to track it to the center.

    hope that makes sense

Nordictrack Commercial 1500 treadmill w/working display BUT unresponsive buttons

Sounds like a cable harness is undone. The cable feeding the panel which has the computer inside (the power feed) is connected, but the cable from the panel back to the motorized parts isn't. The breakaway is a separate circuit that cuts all power to everything. These are my assumptions (I'm not a nordic track expert), but it's a pretty safe bet, likely the connector in the bottom section. Okay, I just looked it up, first Google "nordictrack 1500 manual" one of the first links is a PDF, with a complete parts breakdown. Depending on your specific model, it looks like there is a connector under the top panel where it meets the right post (and a couple of screws will let you lift it up to check it). It may be partially unplugged, check that first since it looks pretty easy to check.
But I think it's going to be in the bottom, in the bottom of the treadmill the wiring splits to different sections. The motor/incline controller cable (a separate cable #106 on one model I looked up, something like NTL09707 or similar) is probably the one that is either broken or unplugged. So although the computer (up top) is sending signals, they aren't reaching where they need to. Anyway, get that manual, and someone handy with screwdrivers and technology, and they should have it figured out quickly.

Our Nordictrack Track Exp100S has problems. The belt rubs on the left hand side (my left as I'm walking) at the back of the treadmill. What should I do?

Inspect the rear plastic end cap. It is the plastic part at the back of the machine. The adjustment screws can be found there. These end caps disintegrate after time and break. You will see the discoloured plastic where the damage has occurred. If this is the case, the end cap must be replaced and belt readjusted.

Belt won't move

does is just not move when you're standing on it, or not even move when you're not standing on it. It may be a simple belt adjustment or if the motor is running but there's no track movement you may be looking at a loose/broken drive belt. Take the cover off, start it up and look at the motor/drive pulley assembly. If the motor turns and the front roller doesn't, tension the drive motor by moving it back. If the front roller turns but the track doesnt, do a track adjustment as per your users manual.

How do I repair the seam of the walking belt? There is about a 5" wide seam on the walking belt and one end has come undone (about a 1/2 inch. It catches each revolution & I'm afraid that it is going...

Be extremely careful when trying to trim a belt. Understand that many hazards exist when performing these steps that can result in serious injury. If you have any question whether you can perform these steps or not, please call a professional and do NOT attempt this repair.
There are two methods that can be used to trim a walking belt when it has developed a tattered edge:
1) Remove the belt from the treadmill for trimming.
a) All walking belts are cut at some point during their life, whether in manufacturing or later during service, so this will not compromise the integrity of the belt as long as you cut a straight line and do not leave a rough edge.
b) Remove the walking belt from the treadmill, lay the belt flat and even on the ground, and measure and equal distance on each end of the belt and mark the belt for cutting on each end of the belt. Cut no more than necessary to restore a smooth edge.
c) Use a piece of flat steel or other metal object that is straight and long enough and connect the two markings on the belt with the metal object.
d) Using a new razor knife, box knife, or similar instrument, cut the belt along the steel object. If the knife has a new edge, you should cut through the belt in one or two passes of the knife.
e) Check the belt for a smooth edge and reinstall the belt.

2) Cut the belt while it is mounted on the treadmill. This method should only be considered by those who are familiar with treadmills and very good with tools. This can be a dangerous process.
a) Track or center the belt off center to the opposite side of the tattered edge (i.e.- if the belt is tattered on the right side, track the belt off centered to the left side by about 1/2 to 3/4").
b) Operate the treadmill at a very slow speed. Usually 1.0 or 1.5 MPH will be sufficient.
c) Using both hands, line a new razor knife up on the tattered side of the belt. Make sure to cut no more than necessary to make a smooth edge.
d) With the belt moving and using both hands, lift the knife up and contact the belt making sure to hold the knife steady and keeping your hands and clothing as free from the moving roller as possible. You will not damage the roller to the point where it will hurt the operation of the treadmill.
e) Do not lower the knife until you see the belt separate from the tattered edge. Once this happens, turn the treadmill off, unplug the treadmill, and cut the tattered strip off the treadmill.
f) Track or center the belt and operate normally.

Belt makes noise, like it is scrapping something!

Do you have a three year old in the house?? Our ProForm 795 treadmill started making noise when the belt was rotating. Come to find out, he had hidden a plastic clothes hanger inside where the drive roller spins the belt. That was our scaping noise.
Otherwise, is your belt tensioned correctly? If not, it could be tracking to one side or the other.

When I get on my treadmill it feels like Im sliding to the point where I cant walk on it. Also I have a lot of black dust under the track and the belt is cutting into the plastic on one side.

On the side of the treadmill where the tread is running into the foot rail (plastic). go to the rear of the machine and find the hole in the end of the plastic. There will be an allen wrench hole there. Use an allen wrench (should have come with the machine) and tighten this bolt (clockwise) 2 full revolutions. This should move the belt away from the plastic and possibly keep the belt from slipping. Good Luck, Tim

Tread is sliding and rubbing agianst right side of track.

Make sure treadmill is running when you adjust belt. The treadmill belt tracks as the belt goes around. I usually put machine on 2-2.5 if belt is not rubbing instantly. If belt is already against plastic, turn adj. counterclockwise on the opposite side about one full turn. You can usually move belt with your foot to see if it aligns any with turning on the treadmill. Once belt is not rubbing, turn treadmill on and continue alighing the belt.
